Minsk 125 - anything more than a piece of scrap?

The Minsks seem to have an awful reputation, almost everything I've ever read about them is negative, but still I want one. Chiefly because they are very cheap where I live and being a university student "cheap" is a magic word for me. But also because I like the looks. I'm hoping to do a short trip in Europe this summer on a tight budget and the idea of doing it on a 125 sounds good to me. I should point out I've never ridden anything larger than a 125, so I may very well be wrong.

What is your experice with these bikes, have you ridden one long distance and what problems did you guys have? Would you ever consider taking one of these further than a meter from home?

Thanks in advance,
NLB

Thanks, guys. The worst bike in the world or not, I think I found the right Minsk and will buy it soon.

You sound like my son who's on his 3rd car in 3 years and 10 grand in debt and is looking at another pos to replace the last pos.
