Interesting, I had heard that story before, never realized it was Jamaica. Just knew it was "some place in VT".

Cops were trying to do things like give citations for dirt bike riders wearing "non DOT approved goggles"... even though there is NO SUCH THING as DOT approved goggles let alone a law requiring them.

Kinda old news isn't it? Happened in 2004 and that article was from 2006. Can't say that we had any problems with anybody last year. Just sayin'...

+1

Plus, if they hate us that much, it will feel even better riding through their town

Yup. Old news. And the town folk gave 'em hell at the meeting where they tried to make the "unlawful law" into a real one. I should know. I was at the meeting. The incident was orchestrated by a few local politicians and a few local LEOs trying to speak for the people before the people had been spoken. The PEOPLE of Jamaica voted against the proposed the law, in essence, backing the stance of all of us as bikers. Unless you plan on spending your money with the Sheriff's dept or placing it directly into the hands of certain Selectboard members, your money is probably going to the people that saved our Class IV roads from being permit-access only.

Just sayin' . . .

Thanks for that update. I stand corrected. I was at the event that got shut down. Swore I wouldn't go back. I never heard about the towns people saving the day. Spend freely my friends,

Yeah, it was a shitty thing when they shut it down and I understand your feelings about a return. But in the end, rational thinking prevailed.

I was hoping you would chime in with something to set things straight. I have always enjoyed the riding in and around Jamaica and plan to continue to visit either way.

Hopefully I will make it into town for Saturday night festivities this year..going to be the tail end of a week long trip so no promises.

You will have to get with The GuyManBro's people to arrange something, we here do not yet have exclusive rights to his engagements, yet.

Thanks for the update. I was pretty sure that I had read that in the paper awhile back. All I knew for sure was that we had a great time there and nobody seemed to have any issues with us.

I'll miss you FFs but I'm doing the Berkshire dualsport ride this year.

The following weekend is the Twisted Throttle open house, which I have to work at, but I hope some of you can come to and say hi. Then Sunday, May 25, PSSOR is doing a riding school (http://pssor.com/pssor-events). Might be a bit basic for you guys. That's a compliment! You're all off-road studs!

Sorry for the spam. Also I have a sticker design if you want for WHACO, just send me a PM.
