Yes the primus is on the list too but not next year. First we want to have a look if the Marmot rally in france still exsists. That looked like a bit of fun. It is held in the highest village in france at 2100m +/- a couple of meters or so not bad considering the Tauerntreffen was at 1500m

Cool,the planning can begin. Again:-D
I heard about the led milles for the first time at the Tauerntreffen. Done the Bavarian Elephant in 2010 where there was a lot of snow too..
Primus looks like a 2015 candidate
Loutre would you have any contacts for the marmots?
Someone which might speak a bit of English or German maybe?

Let me know if you go to Primus next year. I'm hoping to have a sidecar rig sorted by this summer.

I have a buddy in Trieben

It's a bit nicer there in May. Hats off for the ride you took; can one rent a Ural in the area?
Jim

Yes you can in Linz! It's a couple that holds shop there: They are super kind and always ready for an open talk with a traveller. When I came in after a 2500km trip the first thing they told me "you came here with the wrong bike mate"

Their name Is Harry and Birgit, make sure to say Hi from me

http://www.lesmarmottes.net/index.htm is their website. Since the event was just a month ago there isn't a date for next year but usually it's always the same period of time (mid february).

Infos and Email under: j.montagnon@gmail.com (his name is Jacques Montagnon)
If they don't speak english I can do the questionning in french if you want. Access is free, camping is free, no reservation needed. Usually they are less then 150 participants. Since this year you get red whine as a welcoming present and get an "I was there" sticker on the house (if you compare to the elefantentreffen it's REALLY cheap ). For the next year they want to organise wood to make fires (wanted to do this this year but got organizational issues), and even like on the elefantentreffen make a "fackelfahrt" (you know riding with torches).

Most of the riders sleep in the hotels or B&B that are next to the camping site but every year you get about 30 people camping outside. You need to enter St Veran via "basse vallée du Guil" since everything else is too snowed in.

If you need more infos lets PM to preserve the integrity of your RR.

I'm surprised by the lack of snow in the valley though (bad winter for skiing)
