Pulled Over By A Nice ?? Cop On PCH

This video has gotten a lot of comments. Most negative towards the cop. I didn't have a problem with him pulling us over. They were heavy in the area that day due to a recent accident were a motorcycle hit a bicyclist on the Snake..

Cop seemed ok. I would replace that pudding bowl/ brain bucket that the other rider was wearing. And get an open off helmet or a better helmet.

No real reason to pull you over but he was alright about things anyway. I didn't know those lights that blink when you hit your brakes are against the law in places. Guy seemed nice and no ticket or written warning so all good.

The cop's actions seemed reasonable. Its all likely just part of an awareness PR campaign. Some locals probably filed motorcycle complaints and the flashing lights with two motorcycles pulled over in front of traffic signifies action by the PD.

What I struggle with is the legal reason for pulling you over. Don't they have to have a reason? This is still America, right?
I guess a potential lighting violation would qualify as a 'primary' offense and warrant a pull over.
There are just so many other issues I would rather have my local law enforcement focus on...

Is there any 1st world country in the world where the police don't occasionally have blitzes on motorcycle riders in response to media pressure or whatever? To me its just a part of motorcycling. Always has been, and always will be.

You can draw attention to yourself by the way you dress, bike your ride, and way you ride. But don't be surprised that this is an invitation for police attention. The reality is your mate is a police magnet on his Harley with skull face mask, etc. Alternative, do the opposite and its my experience they leave you alone.

I've no doubt someone will now tell me it shouldn't be like that, freedom to do what you want etc. Good theory, and I should be able to leave my house unlocked. It's good to occasionally ponder how the world should be, before getting back to operating in a world of how it is.

If some asshats are using some stretch of road as their personal race track, wouldn't it make sense to focus efforts there, on those particular individuals????

In the grand scheme of things, it looks like that.
Or, it was a nice guy (mark the moustache!) trying to be a sour grape because he was told to do so for a change.
Which, in the grand scheme of things, does happen too.

Sometimes they're ordered to turn up the heat in places where bad stuff happens. If he really was looking for something to write ya up for he'd have been writing when he got off the bike.
