Cry San Diego hit and run

Almost a week ago, a man in a Cadillac turned left in front of one of my best friends and killed him. Seamus O'Bryan was an amazing man and we have ridden all over the San Diego area and Mexico together--him on his Honda Shadow and me on my F650GS. My heart has been broken, but I had faith that by now the San Diego PD would find the driver, or he would turn himself in. Sadly, neither of those things have happened, and Seamus's family and friends need this person found.

All of the info the police have on the car has been released. I am asking my ADVRider brothers and sisters to keep an eye out.

Lulu, I'm so sorry, but more infuriated, to hear about this. I hope peace and comfort to all of his loved ones.

Unfortunately, I don't have much faith in police efforts to track down hit and run assholes. They can have the license plate #, yet still won't go find them--I've seen this too often. But maybe because there is a loss of human life, they'll find the scum or someone in the community will out the fuck who did this.

Condolences to all who loved and miss him.

sad to hear another rider had an unfortunate incident. condolence to his family and friends, especially to you louise.

hope he turns himself in, nevertheless i believe there will be justice somehow.

as a reminder to us, that oncoming left turn is always a surprise and deadly. never let your guard down.

Thorazine--I'm losing my faith in the police being able to do anything about this too. That's why I put it up here--just in case someone sees this car. I'm getting angry now.

Joel, thanks for your kind words. The second reason I posted this was to remind us all about the left turns in front of us. Two years ago, I stopped 2" away from a truck's passenger fender. It terrified me and has kept me on my toes, but the truth is we just never know when it might come at us.

Lulu,
Sorry this kind of thing has to ever happen.

Try posting signs in the area where the accident occurred asking for witnesses to come forward and do "the right thing". It might pay off.

Sorry for your loss here Louise..

It seems like it's a daily occurance now for people to "hit and run".. Chances of getting caught are apparently pretty slim. My daughter was in a fender bender in LA. Guy got out and told her to "get out of here"... Not worth messing with those scumbags.

As far as action, the squeeky wheel does get the grease. Regular calls to the PD officer in charge of this investigation, and maybe the media can help spur interest in the case. Body shops for damage, etc.. But it takes a lot of time.

Peace be with you and his family

Sorry for your loss....and everybody's. From local stories, he sounds like a great person who had a positive attitude.

I agree on the squeaky wheel theory.

For those saying we don't do anything, there are priorities. If someone hit your car, causing $500 in damage, it's not going to the top of the stack of shootings, gangs, child molesters, wife beaters.

This one is at the top of the stack at SDPD Traffic Division, I'm sure.

Give 'em a call and keep the interest high. Hit & Run Investigations:

I roam SD a lot during my day so I'll be watching for possibles.

Thank you, everyone, for your words and thoughts.

Thanks Spafxer Jim. XOXOX

Thanks for the advice TrophyHunter and the contact info.

The media got pretty heavily involved for the first few days, because of who he was and where he worked. Hopefully people will remember what they saw on TV and it will be in the back of their minds if they spot the car.

Good point...a little more swoop to the rear. It could be a Corvair in that pic. I'll call tomorrow to see if they have more info or a better angle that brought em to the Cadi.

Thx
