I have that same model of helmet. Out of the box it is a manual blinky light with two different speeds and I think a solid on setting. For about $30 you can buy a retrofit kit that links it to just your brake light.

I don't have the retrofit and only have used the blinky function once when I ran into some seriously dense fog. Figured I stood a better chance of not getting run over with the red blinker.

It's a GMax GM-68s. Still some available, but it was replaced by the GM-69 which was replaced by the GM-78. All three have the light package.
