Crazy Canuck...what was your departure date? Good for you for persisting despite the weather. Enjoying your photographs. Keep posting. If you are riding in the Okanagan Valley this year be sure to look us up.

The SUV pulled in front cutting me off and 3 young guys jumped out stopped me at gun point. I had my GoPro camera rolling and right away they took it away from me. They asked if I had drugs and searched my bike looking for drugs? I explained I was just a tourist and did not have any drugs so they eased up and put the guns down. After talking with them a bit I managed to get my camera back minus the SD card. They really didn't want their pictures taken. They were never mean to me but yes I was scared being in the middle of no place with no one knowing where I was. I have to admit too I was told not to go into that area and did anyways so I lay the blame on myself for getting into that situation.

Apparently they are vigilantly squads fighting the Cartel and I did get stopped again at a road block but was let through right away. They are looking for drugs, guns and Cartel members not tourists. In no way am I discouraged from riding in Mexico and can't wait to return.
That had to be a very unnerving experience. Too much trouble in that area for my liking at the moment. Plenty of other areas in Mexico to ride if you are there. There is enough local intel from the regulars in Travel Mexico forum to assist in assessing the risk of travelling in particular areas. I'm glad you were okay in that situation. Lets hope they locate Harry, the missing rider, real soon.

I had to make it to Cabo by Dec 28th so I really didn't get a lot of pictures riding through Baja, I had a room booked for the New Year and doing a lot of nothing.

It's heavy so in soft sand you need to be careful going at slow speeds.

I spent a week in Cabo just relaxing, I needed sometime for all my aches and pains from work to go away. So then it was off to La Paz to catch the ferry.

I was going to catch this ferry to Topolobampo and when I talked to the ticket agent she said it left in 2 hours. My Spanish being very bad I misunderstood her and really it was leaving at 2pm. I had gone to get some supplies for the ferry ride and when I got back the ferry was just pulling out from the dock. No problem though just sometime to explore around La Paz and spend the night.

No matter where I stay in Mexico the rooms are always nice.
