Question Mind If I Join?

Looks like work will be bringing me to Artesia, New Mexico come the end of this month or first part of March. Since I'm new to the forum and will be new to the state, I'd love to come out and meet some of you all first hand. I'd be sure to bring food, beer, or whatever, and a donation for sure. Pretty please with Coors and grilled pineapple on top?

Oh you will have ubber fun. If you ride from Artesia, you can swing by my place and ride up with me or crash before/after. My place is 1.5 hours away from Port Rick's, just off I-40.

I suggest ADV name tags for everyone.

Awesome! I'd definitely love to ride up with someone.

Hopefully I'll have my Trail90 moved down by then and/or another bike found, bought, and if necessary made to run. I have this damned affinity for stupid projects which more often than not don't start out as complete or running.

Oh and on that note, if there's to be an actual swap meet... wait, no maybe you shouldn't tell me if there'll be one given the aforementioned weakness to project bikes and such.

I'll see what I can find, not sure what all's available in NM.

Duct tape and a Sharpie, that's how we rolled back in the day.

Maybe...

Like I said hopefully by then I'll have located another more suitable mount for longer rides. If not I'll be throwing on a Lifan 125, re-gearing, and leaving a day early.

My favorite ride report ever. http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=716516

Rafael rode from LA to Broadway on a Honda Cub.

Artesia to Santa Fe, piece of cake.

Yeah so I'm no where near that kind of studliness, but boy would I like to be. And yes compared to that Artesia to Santa Fe is piddly shit.

But seeing this really makes me want to try it now. Rolling up to my first ADV gathering on Soichiro Honda's infamous mountain man cousin to the world renowned Honda Cub. Yeah, that's it I'm going for it. Speed, common sense, and poor fuel mileage be damned I'm going throw on a Lifan 125 in place of my big bore stock motor (well its far from stock with the big bore kit, high performance, cam, and bigger carb, but I'd rather put my trust in the Lifan to get me there) and pin the throttle wide open 'til I smell barbecue.

Having said that, there's a difference in my mind between adventurous and foolish. That trip, on that bike, is foolish.

Keep writing!

A lesson I learned the hard way and one of the main reasons I sold the bike and am getting the larger off road version of it for longer trips. Have you heard of the honda ct90?
My heart skipped a beat and my jaw went sore from smilin'.
ITS A SIGN!!!
