on the road again

I met Ron today from this site. He showed me around Mazatlan and told me a lot about the carnaval that is about to happen here. It is mostly a biker convention with extremely loud music, loud bikes and a lot of drunk bikers going crazy. Most of the locals leave town while this is going on if they can. This is an old town with a rich an interesting history and I enjoyed the tour but I don't need a loud street party keeping me up all night. I quit going to Bike week in Daytona for that reason. Puerta Vallarta sounds like a nice quiet place or maybe somewhere south of there. Camping on a quiet peaceful beach with my hammock still sounds good to me.

cruising the coast

Sure, I got all 3, I sent a PM back to thank you for the tips. The rates at those hotels are too much for me. The hotel I am in now is $30/day. I found one in PV for $60/day but surely I can do better than that. Anyway, I am off to see The famous PV in all it's glory.
On the road again,
Have scoot will travel

Yeah, I figured PV would be a little high. Right now its packed with gringos; mostly Canadianwith some Americans thrown in for balance. Prices won't come down for a couple of months. I'm sure there are some less expensive places. Check TripAdvisor.com

Arrived in Puerto Vallarta last night. I asked a cab driver which way to the El Pescador Hotel and was surprised to hear him speaking very good English. I got to the El Pescador and they were booked up but he recommended a sister hotel just down the street. Same price, I asked, can I park my moto inside? Yes, Yes, of course. Then he said it is called Hotel Rosita, The same one AceJones recommended but the internet price was some 1300 pasos.
The clerk at the Rosita said they had a promotion going on and my rate was 750 pasos per night. This is really a fabulous hotel. The dining room/lobby is an open air sitting area with great views of the beach and pool and a really good singer/guitar player to entertain us. I enjoyed my drink and the ocean breeze and some wonderful American music all at the same time. I am a very lucky man. My room is a decent size and very clean. I can only stay 2 nights as they are booked for this weekend. I want to venture farther south anyway.
Tony in Puerto Vallarta where the living is easy
I am still experiencing some soreness in my teeth but that is to be expected I'm sure.

A friend of mine needed extensive dental work and had it done in Costa Rica for about 50% of what it would have cost in the US including air fare and accommodations for two weeks. They have Government funded universal health care and it's pretty highly regulated so he felt safe. They did a nice job; he had some pain afterwards but that's to be expected when you save up all your ailments and have your whole mouth operated on at one time. He hasn't had any issues and it's been several years. I have really good dental insurance and a crown is still $450 out of my pocket here in Virginia.

We got a good laugh over this because at the time my friend was having this work done in Costa Rica my favorite radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh was threatening to move to Costa Rica to escape the implementation of the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare). Apparently Mr. Limbaugh hadn't bothered to find out that the country he threatened to move to had implemented the same kind of health care system he said would destroy the US and that it was very highly regarded.

I'm glad to hear you're dental issues are better and are getting a fantastic journey out of the deal to boot!

Doug

Rush would never move to Costa Rica because you cannot buy oxycontin there.
