The Wee's maiden voyage FM170 - The river road

Headed out Sunday morning to put some miles on the newly acquired WeeStrom. I love the Harley to no end, but I would be lying if i said that I enjoyed taking it on a fire road... enter the Wee:

When i bought it, there were checkered flags on it... so, I guess that makes it a winner. It's an '04 that came with a bunch of stuff on it already and only 9,000 miles... sweet. and cheap.

After some farkling, it was time to take it on a maiden voyage.

I figured Austin to Marfa, the River Road, Big Bend and back would be a nice 1000+ mile loop for 2 days.

"Farkelicious"

... and a lack of checkered flags.

Anyways, riding...

Headed out of Austin on Hwy 29 to Junction, Tx. From there it was I-10 to Fort Stockton and then Alpine into Marfa.

I spent the night in Marfa at El Cosmico campground - $15 bucks to pitch a tent, coffee in the morning, wifi, relaxed atmosphere... what more can you ask for in the middle of the desert.
Not a great pic, but here is the front office... it's a cool place that's worth checking out if you're riding through.

I recommend the local Brew strongly:

Stopped into Marfa Burrito for breakfast (Brush up on you're Spanish, no hable ingles) Cheat and use this: Huevos, pappas, chorizo... works every time.

Heading south out of Marfa to Presidio I stopped at Elephant Rock:

quick photo op

There's Mexico in them, thar hills!

Gopro shots riding the river road. The pics just never do it justice.

Stopped into Lajitas for a snack:

And got to Terlingua when the gopro batter died...

Notice the sweet Ural?

From there, Road through Big bend... with no Gopro... and then pegged the fun-lever back home to Austin.

Overall thoughts on the Wee:
1. it gets the same mileage as my harley when i'm doing 85
2. needs better windshield
3. needs better seat
Other than that, the thing just keeps trying to please you while you try you're hardest to wip it.

i am taking my Wee for its first ride this weekend. I am excited!

nice bike. 2004 with only 9000 miles? wow! the guy that owned it before you should be smacked for letting it stay parked so much, LOL.

I just got an 04 with 29k miles. I thought that was low mileage. my previous wee stroms had about 50k when I sold them and they were much newer.

nice report, thanks for sharing!
