Lots of things run through you mind when you hear that someone has not returned as expected.
I'm a firm believer in SPOT and use it every time I ride, alone or with others. Likely in this instance it would have sent a "need help but OK", message and at least his wife would have known where to send assistance.

I ride alone too no spot but as long as your not hurt you should be able to walk out of anywhere ...Thank god Tom is okay

Recover the bike

I have a lifted Jeep with the Ultimate Dirt Bike hydraulic Hauler if Tom need my help on getting the bike Out. Just send me a PM. My phone will ring when someone send me a PM. Just call Tom's home and mobile number to no answer.
I am so glad he is Ok.

The SPOT will also give a peace of mind to your family as well, even though you are able to walk out.
