Drove from NYC to Laughlin, NV, Pahrump, NV, Sand Hollow & Moab, UT

Hey guys,
so we left nyc last thursday with the rig for 9 days of offloading and off-roading.
We arrived to Flagstaff, AZ on Sunday and did half a day of riding by Slate Lake OHV area. It was at 8000 ft elevation and man, did the truck lag and complain climbing the hill.

We rode around a bit there just exploring, as we didn't have good intel on the area. The GPX files we had downloaded led to closed roads.
Did some riding...

Then we camped at the OHV park and hung out by the fire with a few beers until it was time to pass out (not much past sunset).

Josh brought a green laser. I felt like a cat on a youtube video. Mesmerized.

The riding up at Flagstaff had amazing peaks and was gorgeous. There were some small tufts of snow that I foolishly thought I could ride right over. It turns out they had completely frozen over and turn to rock hard ice...almost a very short trip!
Then we headed to Laughlin, NV.
We had never ridden out west and thanks to wander4days talking to Keith (I only met him in person, but I have to find his ADV handle) from Laughlin, NV we got an epic tour guide through some of Laughlin's thousands of trails.
Here are some pics.

Ilya found out that unlike East Coast forests, you can't just casually rub up against people (local fauna) here. Fight with a cactus, you lose every time.

So far we've done 3.5 days out west. Yesterday was the best riding Ive ever done my life. Today Patrick, flies in from NYC and we will ride one more day out here.
Tonight we drive the rig to Pahrump, NV to join up with about 10 more guys from NYC to do the Taste of Dakar being put on by Altrider.
On Sunday, after the TODakar, we will head to Sand Hollow Park, UT for some sand dunes. Then hit Moab....cant wait!
More pics and tales to come!

( to see more photos, I'm posting them on FB because its soooo much easier to get online. Check them out here

Good to see that Booniebasher hooked you up
I'd be out there this weekend if I wasn't going somewhere better.

He said you boys can ride! And don't worry, all the new guys get some cholla the first time....

thank you again Booniebasher!
that was awesome again!

here are some pics from the 40 miles of single track up and down the beautiful mountains! Man, those cross winds were strong today.
Had to lean into the wind at certain points.
Didn't realize until today how much front brakes are used in dirt going down steep hills.

Next Stop TASTE OF DAKAR!
Pahrump, here we come!
