A Question for California Inmates: Green Sticker

My '02 Honda XR250R had a (I carefully removed it with a heat gun) 2009 California "green" sticker on the upper left fork. Is there any reason this is worth saving? The bike is in IL now and I don't see it returning to CA but you never know. TIA.

No. It expired in 2009 anyways.

So, just because it "qualified" for a green sticker in 2009, that means nothing now, right?

I'll admit I have no idea what a green sticker even indicates.

Yeah, not a big deal.

It means the bike was legal to ride year-round in California's off-road public land. The sticker has to be paid for every two years. You scrape off the old one and stick on the new one every two years. If you sold it to a California rider they could still pay for a green sticker ($50) and ride off-road, legally.

Hoop jumping, basically. The sticker fees are supposed to go towards supporting/maintaining/increasing OHV areas but somehow a big chunk winds up just getting sucked into the vortex of the state's budget and-------disappearing.

Thanks HWD. I'll put it in the shop manual on the odd chance that someday the XR returns to CA.

Keep it if you like but it's not needed even if it returns to CA. DMV couldn't care less.

There is no reason it is worth saving.
