2013 WP fork update - best bang for the buck?

Ok, there are already a few suspension threads, but I think none of them concentrate fully on WP fork in 2013 on models .

I have 2013 F800GSA and quite frankly I'm not pleased at the front suspension at all; it dives quite a much when braking and a pothole doesn't need to be big to hit through to my hands (phew, I don't even want to know how the Marzocchi of the older models behaves, if this WP is supposed to be better!). No smoothness there.

So, the question goes to those, who have 2013/-14 model GS or GSA and have done updates to the fork. What have you done and was it good bang for the buck?

I'm especially interested if there is someone who has put in the Öhlins FKA105 cartridge set (or some other drop-in type of cartridge set). Yes, Öhlins is pretty darn expensive (lowest prices that I've seen are around 1200 euros for the cartridges), but if it would be a solve-it-all solution, I'd be ready to invest it.

However, I'd like to hear also from those that have done something else - Hyperpros, intiminators, bleeders or other type of snake oils that either work or were supposed to work. Please share your experiences.

I suppose he being in Finland doesn't help. Out of curiosity, can't you do something similar to a Shiver swap by taking the internals of a WP 43mm from a KTM dirt bike? Gremlins like these make me happy that I went for a 2012 model.

Well, I've been going through the susp threads earlier and while Konflict gets praising comments, adding shipping and custom fees to 2000 $ goes beyond the reach of my wallet.

Still I'd like to hear experiences about the Öhlins cartridge, if anyone has them installed.

Hagon - bang for buck

Over Christmas I installed a set of Hagon progressive fork springs into my 2009 F800gs.
I used the standard weight oil.
This has transformed the handling of the bike. It is much easier to ride on fast twisty roads and I find I arrive less stressed. Hard to describe exactly. But I think this is what people would describe as being more "planted" on the road.
Best investment I have made on the bike and very good value for money.
About $230 NZ dollars. I ordered them from Hagon UK on a Thursday or Friday. They arrived at my door, on the other side of the world, the following Tuesday.

They list springs for 2008+. I note that the BMW spring part numbers for the 2009 and 2013 models differ and assume that the GSA spring is different also.
Maybe email them to see what they have for your bike.

If the $2000 is out of your reach a simple email to konflict could pay off huge. I'm certain he can point you in a good direction and help with questions you might have. He does testing constantly so I'm certain he has some experience with onlins. Good luck with your mods.

Call or email Alex at Konflict. He will give you great advice and feedback on the best options for your budget. He upgraded my GSA and it's was worth every penny.

I eventually took the Öhlins route. One short ride with the default settings behind and my observations so far: the front suspension does not hit my hands anymore, meaning that I don't need to go around potholes/stones/roots and on a normal gravel road the front end is now much more relaxed (I've seen someone using the word 'planted' and that describes it quite well).

Now starts the tweaking of the nobs...
