I just noticed your sig line on bikes owned. Thank you. I'll do my best to show her some new places.

Des is here...

Hey guys - great to see the move over here to ADV. To be honest there was so little action on the old site I gave up a few months ago. I would check in once in a while but infrequent at best. I started a new job in San Francisco and am on the road a lot so haven't had much time to post here either, but I follow here much more frequently than "the site that shall not be named".

As I have said before, the invite to our place in Victoria stands for any of you who get way out west. I have been riding lots in the milder weather and try to take the Duc whenever I can but haven't had much chance to go anywhere significant. At the end of the month I am riding solo down to SFO. I plan to leave the bike at my office there for a few weeks, then ride back up in April! maybe joined by my pal Ian if he make it, if not, solo. It will be the furthest solo ride I have done and I plan to do more in future.

Hope to see/talk to you guys soon!

Cheers, DD

Hey Des, I am happy to announce that I have converted from blue to red. Haven't had a chance to tell if red is faster but I am hoping

Smurph and I should be heading back from southern cal area the second week of June if you still have your bike in San Fran.

We are also talking a BC trip after RTTH that last week of July.

Perhaps we'll have the chance to ride together then

Sorry we missed you at the Vancouver bike show but those things happen.

Hey, I just came across this thread and I am always looking for more excuses to get out of the house and ride. As a fellow Alberta Vstrom rider, I figured I'd say Hello.

Hey Scofco - those are the kinds of roads I could ride all day long. Is that the FTR?

You should definitely come out to our 'Run to The Hills 2014'. Originally was mainly Vstrom riders but a few have moved on to other bikes. We do have special camping for those special few that have moved on. Usually downwind and downhill from the Vstrom riders.

We'll have to get the RTTH info up in the Trip/Camping section soon.

Hailing in from BC's west coast

Been reading the sometimes humourous (questionable) antics of this thread in other sites so thought it was time to say hello. Thanks for the fun and videos some of you have produced.

I am just starting out, on a 2013 DL650, and still breaking in my ass, my bike is fine, got lots to learn and thanks to some of you here its been inspiring (?) to say the least. Still have to make one with the paved road before i get on the dirt (groomed and compact gravel).

Hopefully I can contribute something useful in the coming days and perhaps meet up with some of you.

Hey WetCoast !

Glad to hear you were following the 'other' thread. A shame it is being destroyed as we speak. Oh well.

And glad to hear you're enjoying the new ride! Sweet! If you find your butt... or other precious tackle getting sore, I strongly recommend the 'AirHawk inflatable seat cushion'. I can now ride Edmonton to Vancouver in one shot and not be sore.

Mardaf and I are just sitting here working on the first episode of our Ride Report video in Europe last year. Hope to have the first vid up soon. Shit takes way too long. Kudos to Whitey for his talent.

Well we're all glad you remembered your password! And i'm sure it all went to shit before your arrival :).

We should really get a tech night planned soon - one where we're drinking beer and turning wrenches. Okay... who am I kidding - drinking beer and staring at the bikes in a garage is good enough.

Gonna be wrenching on Pops new bike tomorrow - Saturday - probably 9am start. Anyone can come on over and lend a hand or bad advice. Smurfvillage as usual.

new vid of europe

Looking forward to the video!

I was in southern France a few years ago and rented a small car to get around in. I was amazed how the folks there can sit in a cafe for an hour nursing the smallest cup of coffee and then get in their cars and drive as if the world was coming to an end.
