three sizes to suit your needs

ground cover or quick emergency blanket with hood to set up as a shelter.

None of these take up much room or weight at all.

First aid kit to treat fractures, control bleeding, open wounds, and neck injuries less than 3-4 lbs max.
All my tools weigh less than 4lbs....

Rob above has given you very...VERY good advice...We have both treated fractures and bleeding...in my case a bleeding neck...hahahaa...with duct tape, a front tube and a couple vicoden...A rider with a broken clavicle can be back on the bike with those 3 things...

We have seen so many guys hurt themselves by riding a bike they can't move around on correctly due to all the crap strapped to it...

To each their own....but there is some real world trail experience to be had around here....

Will you need less or more-ask!

Tell that to the guy that froze to death on the mountain right here in CNF
Ask yourself would that 20$ BIVY that fits in the palm of your hand save my ass if caught out?

shelter
water
fire
food
first aid
communications
gps

Ask yourself are you more likely to freeze to death in the CNF or crash because you have all kinds of crap on your bike........

My thoughts exactly, Mike.

Besides, the guy who froze to death up there was too incapacitated from head trauma to be able use any of that shit anyways. The only thing that would've saved him was the SAR doing their job.

I think we could lighten this load a bit. Sharpen the shovel edge first on a rock, then dig a hole and lay in it, then slice your jugular with the shovel. No reason to leave a beautiful gun like that all alone in the wilderness. It might need a survival pack to survive.....

That's realistic, lets try to be! What happens when your two up!? You crash and fall more when you have a passenger. Sure your more likely to. But realistically an extra 5 lbs. Why throw out illogical rationalizations. Your logic is well stated, you might want to rethink your logic and take notes.

More likely to crash then freeze to death not being prepared.

Which came first the egg or the chicken.

Was head trauma or hypothermia? Going into hypothermia you will lose motor skills and normal brain function. Where is the article if posted about cause of death?

To screwed up to climb into a bag.

Died of hypothermia, due to the fact that he was too incapacitated from head trauma to get off of mountain. Yes, too screwed up to climb into a bag......they found him dead still sitting on his bike, so even too screwed up to know he should get off his bike and try to find shelter....

I have been on that mountain (mole hill) in every possible condition (been riding it for over 30 years), seriously, every one that you could ever imagine there. There's no way that anyone in their "right" mind could die on that mountain from Hypothermia not related and caused by another incapacitating/immobilizing injury. It's impossible.

Head trauma but still got back on bike doesn't make since. Whats the official story?

Not doubting your experience. Sometime with gained experience you forget the subtleties in what you have learned.

We're not all riding single thumpers sub 300lbs bikes. 5-10 lb ain't gonna make that big a difference on a 500lb bike.

best to have a riding buddy and tell someone where i'm riding

not necessarily in this order
1) communications, including spot
2) hat/food/water/first aid kit, light shelter if going long distances
3) tools and vital spare parts
total weight (1-3) is less than 30 lbs.

i always leave overconfidence at home.

i'm not into "watch me ride", always on the survival mode....

I'm in to watch me ride vids turn camera on and forget about it, you catch stuff you wouldn't with just digital camera alone. There is a big difference though in riding for the camera catching your meaning. Go back pick out the kool parts and add music to it watch it over and over again. I can virtually ride that trail many times and to different music friggen love it. Check these two out.

I never crash two up. I take responsibility for my passenger and ride accordingly

you're not your

Sure your more likely to.
Sentence structure?
You're not your
But realistically an extra 5 lbs.
sigh

you got "your" right....nice
Why should I rethink my logic if it is well stated?
