Hearing from non-riders about how their 'uncle Earl' who 'rode bikes all of his life' had to 'lay his bike down' one day and was seriously hurt/killed. They never mention that Earl was not wearing any gear, had not been on bike in decades, was going way too fast, just left the bar was quite probably an asshole.

This dopey discussion is usually accompanied by solemn looks and admonishments to give up riding.

When I come across people like that, I try to switch the subject to the national disgrace of how many people die from bed sores in our nation's hospitals and then wrap up with a deep sigh of despair and that classic counter-intuitive line that "I guess something's gonna get us sooner or later." Then, depending on the season, I'll send them on their way with a cheerful "Have a Happy Mother's Day!" or "Merry Christmas!" or some other pick-me-up.

A 46hp quad is better for getting attention than a 170hp bike.

That's sad.

when i'm on the vespa, i get called names. :-( well, the neighborhood brats love it and beg for rides.
Well, I guess we've established that we're not a bunch of pretty boys in this forum.

Me, I make a little extra spending money on weekends as a gargoyle/greeter at a Gothic bed-and-breakfast.

That's not to say I don't get approving looks from girls when I ride by in ATGATT, but I know better than to stop. The teachers would have DFACS on you before anybody could say...

When your underwear has a seam down the middle and it tugs at your gooch hair on a long ride.

Having to put it up for the winter. Can't argue that.

Rain is still a bit unpleasant.

Specifically, getting all my crap indoors (or out to the bike), then dealing with wet gear in my office.

Not unpleasant enough to take a train instead of ride (besides, I'd have to walk in the rain then anyway).

Luckly we only get piddly pretend rain here in the Bay, so it hasn't been as much an issue since I left NC (where it would rain hard enough in the summer to cut visibility to under 30' and bruise your flesh through 500d cordura).

For me, its a nice day and I have to work and can not be out riding.
Or I have to work and can not take a long trip on a motorcycle.

The only bad thing about riding is not being able to.
