Sydney harbour bridge

Hi all, going on a bit of a road trip soon. Most things are sorted, but on the way back I'd like to ride over the bridge as a treat for miss Nat who will be pillion for the trip!
As I'm not familiar with Sydney, what the best way and correct lanes to be in heading north? We're following the coast up after doing the Bonang.

After the bridge, out to Wisemans Ferry, then north to Cessnock. We'll see how we are for time and weather as to which way after that.

Bit of good father daughter bonding...

Where are we again?

Just make sure it's open not closed for a marathon, fun run, F1 Red bull promotion a bloody picnic or some poor bloke protesting agains the family court.

Depending on which way you approach the bridge from the south just ride on in your lane and then move across to the centre lane don't take the Kirrabilli or North Sydney off ramps head straight for lane Cove via M1->M2-> to Pennant hills turn off then out through Dural to wisemans.

If you have time before, park in the Rocks and walk up to the South East Pylon (the one closest to the Opera house) and let you daughter climb up to the top of the pylon you get the same view as the bridge climb for a fraction of the cost.

Good luck in shit city I say...No easy way to ride over the "Bridge" from the south then out.. Off the bridge.I would follow the signs to the M2 Motorway to Pennant Hills Rd ..go right... up to Castle Hill Rd.[not far]..Left...Dural ..and you can't really go wrong...
A better way to Cessnock[way quicker] is The Old Paciffic Hwy to Peats Ridge and on to the Wollombi Rd Same as before but head north out of shit city to the Berowra turn off COPS everywhere..as I said .good luck

If you're heading north via the eastern distributor, keep an eye out for the turn to the Bridge / North Sydney
https://www.google.com.au/maps/@-33....Q8pg!2e0?hl=en

Otherwise you'll end up in the tunnel. If you're coming through the city you'll see signs to the Harbour Bridge if you keep your eyes open.

Hey Pete,
when are you in town mate?
I might be able to provide escort duties - for a small fee.

If you go south to north over bridge - no toll fees, no bus lanes.
North to south, different story. You will have to pay, it is all E-toll only, so no booths. If you go North-South, pick the bus lane (red) to avoid traffic. Keep on the left as you approach bridge/tunnel, you will see where bus lane starts eventually. Once you over the bridge, take left again to go past Circular Queue/see Opera house, if you lucky there might be some big ass dinghy full of tourists berthed at International Terminal.

When you visiting the big smoke?

Going North ..

On the bridge ...

The two left lanes turn off to North Sydney ... so you don't want to be in those .. by the end of the bridge .. so you have plenty of time not to be in those.

After the bridge (ummm 400 meters?) .. the road splits ... you can go either side .. don't worry about that.

Depending on how much of a hurry your in and the traffic .. I'd not use the toll ways. Go to Epping .. you'll want a map.

-----------------
If you go north after 3pm and before 7pm it will be terrible traffic...

Hey Pete! You gunna be down this far? Always welcome. Not sure how the Bonang is at the moment, lots of fires through there recently, and last time I rode through in January, it was rough as guts down the bottom. Have fun!

I thought that everybody in Sydney uses a GPS or smart phone &/or a religious minority complained so all the signs may have been taken down!

Russ- the SE pylon climb sounds good, I was going park at Kirrabilli for the touristy photos.

Chip- OPH to Peats Ridge was plan A, but then I haven't done the ferry before.

Ted- Tony was right then, there is a sign! Don't want to end up in the tunnel.

Matt- is beer required? (& bikeroz), plan now looks like Tuesday 8th April, noonish, at the Rocks, pylon climb, lunch, over the bridge to Wisemans.

Boot- visiting relo's at Koo Wee Rup for lunch, how about afternoon smoko at the 'In Line 4' on Sunday 6th April?

Thanks for the Bonang link Steve, I'll suck it and see at Orbost.

Bugger. I'll be at work that weekend...

Failing the Bonang, I went over the Omeo to Mitta a cupla weeks ago. Only 2 ks of dirt left...The way it feels right now, you may even get to see some snow!

Once you get off the ferry at Wisemans you can go left via St Albans or Right via ..... Ummmmm Kulnura(?) left is nice, dirt road fairly early on with a hump in the road that makes all the right hand turns off camber, but then it turns back to seal again (there's a really old cemetery just after the change to seal that is quite interesting if you're into that kind of thing), a few minutes later you'll be at St Albans where you can grab a coke to wash the dust out then about 100m up the road it turns to dirt again but is a much better road than the earlier one and you get a great ride all the way to the main road a little short of Wollombi (another good pub) from Wollombi head North to Cessnock :)

So youre gonna be in Koo Wee Rup Sunday lunch, but be in Sydney for the bridge climb by lunch Tuesday? Thats gonna be one hell of a thrash on Monday, especially if you're doing the Bonang. Got a Spot tracker, like to watch this one! Or maybe I'm just old and have to make too many pit stops!
Have a safe ride anyway!
