We are using a new partner to complete the shaping and welding as they are set up to do both TIG welding for aluminum and the necessarily unique welding setup for Titanium. |

A pre-production image is attached. This picture shows the F650GS lightbar with the attachment bracket bolted together. We have Titanium light bars cut and machine finished. The brackets are cut, shaped and welded and we're waiting for the powder coating to be applied. We'll post production pictures - hopefully late Friday! |

The bracket mounts on the top frame support bolt in front of the engine. The bracket is intended to install below the bar. The Titanium light bar is designed to enable you to easily put the lightweight PIAA 1100x with double bolts. You can install single bolt lights (PIAA, HELLA, FET, LightForce, etc) also. You may install HID lights that have a multiple bolt install as well. This gives you more options to choose from then any other light bar for the F650GS available on the market today. And, if you later want to install the lightbar on a R1150GS/R1100GS you simply remove the bracket and get a fastener kit from us to install it!

New Pics!
Hi Everyone,
I took the new F650 light bar over to our local dealer to install it and take some pictures. Turns out all they had instock were customer bikes so I was not "allowed" to install it. So we held it in place and took pictures so you could see what it looks like. Attached to the bar are a set of 55W PIAA 540's (which we offer as well). IMHO the 540's just "look right" on this bike. More pictures to follow at our web site; http://www.micatech.net Enjoy! Bill Micatech.net BillM screwed with this post 12-14-2002 at 05:02 PM |

Those sit a lot lower than I thought they would.
How do yours differ from the Martin Fabrication version? I like the positioning on the 1150GS better. Or the high mounting on Euro cops F650Gs: BMW Police Bikes |

another pic
Fish and other,
Here you go. This picture also may help answer Chicago's question. Yes, our bar is mounted lower then Martin's bar but there is method to our madness. Also our bar, when installed will be ~1" higher then it's shown position. From the picture below you can see that directly above our bar is the radiator. As a data point the titanium light bar itself is VERY strong and will not esily bend. In the event of a hard fall the attachment bracket that is AL will fail and allow the bar to "fold" back. As you can see, if the bar were much higher it would fold back into the radiator (a very bad thing). Yes fish, in the event of a fall the light could be damaged, but as with everything in life we must make compromises. Also the 540's were the only lights I had handy to mount for the picture. We appreciate the feedback and will review our design. That's a benefit for you guys having Micatech pay for the development, prototpe and refinement steps of those cool accessories for your moto.
It's really one of the best of times for us as we get to use those cool CAD tools and then put our hands on our gear and refine the parts in our machine shop. We have had great customer response to our products. They appreciate us using the best materials for the products we've designed. They also recognize that in spite of using expensive base materials, we are offering our gear at or below the price of our competitors who are using lower cost and less effective materials. Thanks again for your feedback and we look forward to seeing you on the road. |
