KTM 990 Baja Engine Case Leak

I have a 2013 990 Baja with under 1,000 miles on it. I have an oil leak coming from the engine casing where the left and right side of the engine join together. I noticed the leak at about 400 miles when I was putting on a skidplate. I thought maybe after break in the oil leak will get better. Now it seems to be worse. In 600 miles there is probably about 1 teaspoonful of oil that has leaked into the skid plate area.

This is going to require a major repair, my engine is going to have to be disassembled completely and then put back together. Not something I technically want done especially on a new bike.

Any thoughts from you guys on whether I should just live with the leak, take it to the dealer and have them re-seal the engine, or maybe press KTM for a new engine?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

Take it back to the dealer you purchased it from. If they are a good dealer, they should take good care of you and the bike.

Stock side stand mounted to the engine still? Crack in the case itself rather then the gasket gone bad?

No it's been relocated before even using the bike.

That's warranty city but it's KTM's decision whether to rebuild or replace.

oil leak

My new 990Adv (2012) had ugly leak at 1500 mi. on long trip, kept check on oil and took it back to dealer, proved to be nothing more than a bad sealing ring on cam chain tensioner cover.Covered on warranty(Big Deal!) and is clean and leak free. When it happened,I was pissed, love the bike but crap like this should not happen on a $15,000 modern motorcycle.Kind of reminded me of my 1947 Indian Chief!Hope yours works out well,if the dealer must split cases, make sure the technician(???) is skilled and experienced.
