done. That ticking noise does seem odd. Could it be the cam chains ?

edit: Once you had uploaded a vid on tube look for embed just under the video. Copy and paste the link.

Mmmm? Posted a query before about it would stall with a clank. As if something was jamming causing it to stall! Tried to catch the noise but will try another video. Didn't do it this time.

Err, very hard to tell from a video uplink. My Honda sounds terrible on a mobile phone video, but in real life is very smooth...

It sounds awful. Too clacky. Did you do the valve adjustment, or who did? When was it last serviced and how did what? Was it like this for ages getting worse, or all of a sudden? Any difference in riding it?

Or nothing :) the sound is terrible on youtube vids.

Sounds like that all the time. It stops with a clack/bang metal on metal sort of noise now and then. It had shims done at 34k. Last two services just oil and filters. All others done by workshops. When it does stop it sounds like something is snagging?? That's why I was edging towards cam chains or tensioners???

Sounds like an exhaust leak to me.

Otherwise: Cam chain tensionors, oil pump piston, cam chains, clutch basket...

Video isn't working for me for some reason. I don't think the '04s have the starter torque limiter, but that occasionally makes a nasty noise if I stall my bike. Not on normal shutdown though... maybe the starter sprags?

Sound a lot like a leaky exhaust.

Thats about how my 04 950 sounds for the first 20 seconds or so, then it quiets down. I don't have any metal on metal sounds when I shut down though. I figured it was a little noisey until oil pressure was up.

The clank stops the bike. Not when I decide. If I am revving the bike at the time it feels like it misses a beat.
