Sudden memories of roads ridden.

Some times out of the blue a section of road is burped up out of my subconscious. It seems as though I am able to remember long stretches
with a clarity that is rare to me. These might be a bit of high-way that was ridden 15 years ago or just last week. There is nothing flash-backish about the experience, just a very profound sense of being there. Some thing in the present will remind me of somewhere else maybe. I might be a bit bored...

Happens to me, mostly in the winter when I'm not able to ride. Mine are short episodes lasting only a few seconds.

You’re recalling a “zen moment”. While you were riding that stretch of road, you had a moment of clarity. Seems to happen on rare occasions where it all comes together and other thoughts are pushed aside, or just drop away. Those moments will come back in your thoughts even years later. These are the things that make riding special and healthy for your mind.

I have some clear memories of rides. This one stands out the most:

The time I rode Highway 9 and Skyline Blvd, and had the road to myself on my Ninja 636. Every time I stopped, the place sounded like a race track with so many bikes. As soon as I got back on the bike, it was deserted again. It was surreal, since I was retracing my best friend's favorite roads, where he chose to commit suicide not long before. The road was dry, and the tarmac fresh. My tires were like glue, as I shredded that road with pent up frustration from the lack of answers.

Edit: was that a thread killer? It shouldn't be. Strong memories come in all shapes and sizes. That one was actually my favorite ride because, although I didn't find any answers, I found a bit of myself.

Shit, I sound like like the guy from Zen and the Art.

I will be a long way from home on a ride and end up at what feels like the same gas station, I used to think it was weird now I realize is the bike always needs gas about the same place and some great roads have few stations.
