After a long wait

The rivets are finally here. Shinny one is 3/16

They are metric rivets 5mm not really everyday item. Imperial sizes are either 3/16 or 7/32 (5.5mm)

Here are the measurements.

I will still go forward with the tooling for the rivets. I really believe it cuts down on the "what if" factor. Additionally rivets when properly set swell to fully take up space to become "zero clearance" fastener, something that bolt can never do. Bolt can compensate for it with friction by applying force o squeeze the parts but it can not expand where it matters.

Here is what they look like. You gotta admit they are pretty.

And now my son wants to play with icons

Tools for riveting

I am picturing this for a simple rivet setting kit that you could use with hydraulic press.
EDIT: After looking some more I think I should be able to make the top and bottom die the same.

They are fairly simple pieces comparing to the spacer, I am thinking not more than $50. The idea would be to make 5 sets and sell them with the spacer and 10 rivets as a master kit. @ $120-$130. After that it would be up to the owners to lend them or lease them or whatever, to the people that want to do the rivets. I am trying not to distract my spacer supplier too much right now, until he comes through with the spacer. I have supply of rivets for the foreseeable future. There should be no need for everybody to buy the tools but somebody will have to, I think it will really be worth it. I will do the video of the process once it's ready. Lots going on, but the spacer snafu knocked the wind out of me a little. I should have checked before I put them out there. I jumped the gun a little

Please put me on the list for the second batch. I am sure my post on the first page got buried with all the excitement generated (8 pages worth!). This is more of a "have on hand" item for me and not one of need. I would also be interested in a rivet kit. Thanks for taking all the steps to make them as perfect as can be.

Esmir have you considered taking your spacers and modifying the clutches yourself. Maybe you and Beemer Boneyard could form an alliance they provide the clutches and you modify the clutches using your spacer and Beemer Boneyard providing the retail outlet. I would hate to see your spacers getting blamed for a possible failure due to the clutch not being modified properly by the owner.

Just a thought and good luck with your Spacer endeavor.

Sorry, just tuned in to this very interesting thread.

So the idea is to install this as a preventative measure either while doing a new clutch or even if your clutch is fairly new and you don't mind digging in again. I just did mine but wouldn't be against going in one more time.

I had the disc remanufactured with slightly thicker material and had to add thin spacers (like TT's disc) so it should last a looong time. Might as well look after the splines and then forget about the whole mess till the spacers need to be removed and that I can do through the starter access point.

Will it work on an 1100 clutch as well?

The only 1100 that this would fit is 1100s with 6 speed transmission

I didn't think about it, and spacer is provided with no warranty implied or expressed. As a business proposition this is not really something that would make me rich. I just want to provide a possible solution to a problem that I and apparently many other owners of these bikes face. After all it is an adventure rider forum. As far as providing clutches to make it worth while price would have to be close to what bruno is already charging. It's a choice you either pay or play. I am sure most of the people that expressed interest are aware of possibilities, and understand the risks. My wife is in risk management she is the one that will word the disclaimers. I want to worry about making the parts that I a happy with. And your last sentence sums it up, but anybody can be blamed for anything, safest thing is to do nothing.

1100 don't have this issue. They have full spline engagement
