Yeah... we need to do that. I still havent even de-winterized the Ural yet this year. My weekends really free up starting in August, but I'm booked for July.

OH, hell. I didn't confirm it, but I was planning on it. I'll check later on tonight to see.

Not bad for me to take that time and do work around the house, mind you. There's lots of that needs doing.

Hey guys.
Joined the forum at the recommendation of a friend.
Found some nice info here.

Took nearly 10 years off from riding. Owned dirtbikes and a handfull of 80s streetbikes.
Decided I wanted something not afraid of a little dirt.
Couple of months ago I picked up a 2014 Tiger 800ABS(knowing what I do now, I might have gone for the XC).

Added a few things. Put on some break in miles and learned her manners. Ready to go ride.

I've never really taken a bike this size offroad but I'm to understand that this is an upper midweight bike.
When you guys classify the rides as big bike OK etc, are you considering the 800 a big bike? Would stock roadie tires be good on most of this stuff?
How often do you plan weekend rides? I've seen a lot of weekday stuff. I have a job with regular hours.
I enjoyed the pictures and trail reports. It really has helped me get at least an idea of what I'm in for.

Thanks. Stu.

For this particular thread, Its mostly weekend. I was trying to put a ride together for today, since I had off, but it didn't work out. If you search the forum, you can probably find a ride pretty much any time you would want to go.

I started this thread and usually post a few ride routes and we vote on what day works best for everyone... but I am by no means 'in charge'. If you want to organize a Baltimore area ride, feel free to do so here.

Personally, I would consider your bike to be 'big', but its its very capable. (my dual sport bikes are 500cc and 650cc thumpers, so 'big is realtive) You could do any of the rides we have done in the past in this thread on street tires. You're going to have to ride 3+ hrs from here to get to anything really gnarly. We have had several BMW GS, a KTM 9?0, an SV650 on street tires, and even a Harley Road King on our rides, so there are plenty of big bikes.

Most of the dirt roads near Bmore are pretty tame. There might be an occasional rock or rut or deep gravel, but I think your bike is perfect for the kind of riding around here! I was just admiring the new tigers at my local Triumph dealership the other day, they look like really great bikes. Welcome to the forum!

Welcome, stu! Nice bike! A couple of the other local fellers have those. You'll be in good company!

Sorry we didn't get out on Friday, but over the weekend I did get out AND got my rack mounted!! Now I just need to purchase some tools so I am more self sustaining!!

I am out of town with work until end of the month, but will be keen to ride upon my return!!

Cheers!

I'm booked solid until August too, but we'll have to get together for a ride when you get back!

Sorry I ended up missing it after all. Between the truck loosing oil pressure, the morning rains, and a few other things, it just wasn't happening. Shame, as I was looking forward to it.
