If you get a chance, I highly recommend you stop by the Wheels Through Time museum in Maggie Valley, NC. It's just a few miles off the Blue Ridge Parkway. Be advised it's closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

Welcome to Virginia! I live just west of Lexington, VA, off the BRP at Mile Marker 45 (Highway 60) so you've been riding through my back yard. Yesterday was a bit blustery but gorgeous and sunny, so it should have been a great ride on Skyline Drive. Hopefully you stopped at MMZero on the BRP and got some kettle corn from this guy, best there is!

The weather is supposed to be fantastic for the next week with lows in the mid-50s and highs in upper 70s, very little chance of rain. Woohoo!

My wife's family is originally from Poland, she's the third generation US citizens, they all settled in Wisconsin where there is still a large Polish-American community. Have fun, be safe, and welcome to our beautiful country! I want to take my wife and visit your country some day...

Doug

P.S. Watch for wildlife around here! I rode home via back roads from my office in Roanoke on Thursday and topped a hill on a gravel road through the forest and surprised a momma black bear with three tiny cubs! Very cool sight... It is truly Spring, finally!

Nice pics, I think this is probably some of the best time of year to travel on a motorcycle. Cool mornings, not scorching hot yet in the afternoon. Well timed.

All this talk about poland has me craving some pierogi and golabki!

Ring Ring...."Hello".

When you come to California, please consider dipping into Mexico, I can offer you a place to stay, food and such, hey I can even pick you up at the border and return you on your way to the USA! Just so you can say you did a part of BAJA, and ALL countries of north America!

Anyway I am going to read all of your post!!! and will be following!!

I don't know about couches but, this map might help you find a place if you wish to camp at a fellow ADVer's place.

After you click the link, click the google maps link near the bottom of the first post and it will show you every offered tent-space. Good luck!

If you go a bit more west, I have one in Tulsa, OK.
We have quite a group here that is used to hosting riders passing by.
Just be careful, people tend to stay here longer than planned! Just ask JDowns from Nebraska, who spent several months here or "New Zealand John"
Our latest "adopted kid" is from California - Beechum1

Oh, and if you feel a bit homesick I can offer you a proper Polish conversation

Pozrowienia z Oklahomy!

P.S. Between 15-18th of May about a hundred of us ADViers will be camping in North West Arkansas at the 10th Annual Slap Rally - There's plenty of good riding there including our own little "Tail of the Dragon" - Hwy 23 (also known as The Pig Trail). More info about the rally here: http://advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=942935

Weronica, What did you think of our Dragon. I am lucky enough that I grew up within an hours ride to it. Manynof the roads going to the Dragon from Franklin, NC are just about as good. I hope you enjoyed it!

Hi,
I just love Bonni. He has a soul! After Riding Across Europe you should know that I like "retro" bikes ;)
