Border crossing Argentina Chile, Shipping bike to Chile

I just came back from a road trip on motorcycle in Argentina & Chile and would like to share the information about the customs, fuel, road conditions and border crossings. http://notjustatourist.com/blog/coun...south-america/

My first problem was to buy a motorcycle there or to ship mine. At the end and seeing the high prices and lack of the bikes that could interest me as a female rider in Brazil, Argentina & Chile I decided to ship my bike from Spain to somewhere in South America.

Then, the problem was to find a shipping company and to decide whether by air or ship.

The last problem was whether Argentina or Chile and as we heard so many bad things about the corruption in Argentina we opted for Chile. The custom clearance in Chile that actually was very easy. Please help yourself with the information and donīt hesitate to ask in case you have further questions.

I just went for a ride to Chile and Argentina , exporting and crossing borders. My feeling is nothing looks bad to me . I ship frequently vehicles to Argentina using RoRo , both countries. Not a problem whatsover, beside the requirement of having insurance before the bike is released out of the port.
Chile now is enforcing the Insurance too but not mandatory yet for tourist. Argentina yes. You can buy it in Chile for various countries or Argentina.
