There's only been 3 rides for me so far where the heat has been an issue - but for a hot August 30+ day I think investing in these will pay off.
UPS tried to deliver today... Ordered Friday - arrived Canada on Wednesday - that's quick. Have to pay an additional $20 to UPS for some reason and leave a check in order for the delivery guy to leave them.

They definitely do help with the heat but..., one issue for me is they stick out on the sides right where my legs are when on the pegs.
They put some pressure on the inside of my boot/calf area. Felt like this was pushing my feet further out on the pegs. If your bow-legged, no issue

That's one reason why I ordered these:

KTM Rally pegs

They shouldn't stick out on the sides. The shields come with two zip ties. They are intended to go through the hole on the right angled tab located approximately in the middle of the bottom edge. Wrap the zip tie around the vertical frame piece and pull the heat shields in against the frame. That way they don't push your legs out.

I got my heat shields on Monday and I'm very happy. They certainly do the trick of keeping the hot air off your legs. And they look awesome on the bike. The carbon fiber construction is very high quality.

I sent a private message through ADVRider to them. He travels alot. Be patient, it may take up to a week for a response, he will respond eventually, and then you too can have a set of awesome Wings heat shields.

I have them mounted flush with the frame as you mentioned. "Stick out" maybe to extreme for description, but they do "protrude" where calf area does hit while on pegs, at least for me. (not bow-legged)
