Chloride-Monticello NM Questions

I'm heading to Western NM on my R1200GS in a couple of weeks, looking for ghost towns and good riding. I've read some good RR's on here about the area east of Silver City and west of T or C.

Anyone have RECENT experience with the canyons around Chloride and Monticello? I'm particularly interested in big dual sport riding, and I have Tourances, not TKC80's (they wear out too fast on the road between here and there!).

Anyone with recent (this summer) experience?

Mike
