Calgary to Cancun

Well hi. I've been planning this crazy trip for a year now. I leave in a couple weeks, and i'm definitely nervous! Lots of time, lots of alone time. I have a rough plan of where I'm going but for the most part don't have solid plans, mostly because I don't want to push beyond what I'm comfortable with in the saddle to meet arbitrary timelines.

Heres the plan so far, Calgary to Death Valley via Kalispell. Then to Vegas, Grand Canyon, Albequerque, then south to the border and Copper Canyon. Mexico City, south of mexico near Cancun, then back up the west coast, eventually catching the ferry to La Pas and up the Baja to SoCal. Salton Sea Palm Springs, Joshua Tree, might take a moto racing class in LA, Ventura Beach etc. Take the Pacific Coast highway straight up to Tofino BC where I'll rendezvous with my sweetheart and spend a couple weeks on the Island (I grew up out there).

Lots of things to do! Doing some reportage type photos as well as surfing and hiking as much as possible.

If anyone has any recommendations AT ALL I'm happy to take it all on board. I am worried I'm going to pass by good things out of pure ignorance.

I rebuilt my bike this winter, hope it does ok! Flyscreen in progress, chain/tire/sprockets also coming. This bike has a tonne of effort and new parts on it! Not an oil leak to be had

Sounds like an awesome adventure, Powersnatch!! I'll be following along. I'm curious to see your gear set up after following your thread about minimal packing. Bien viaje!!!

What a blast! I'm crossing my fingers for a loose rendition of your trip in reverse in a couple months except wasn't thinking Mexico .... until now! Good luck! Subscribed.

Sounds like fun...

I will be checking in for sure, sounds interesting. I like your choice of bike as I have owned several CB750's. I will be curious to see what you will be doing for luggage and such. Won't be too much for electronics involved as the CB has a relatively low output stator. Perhaps an "old school" trip!

I haven't done any motorcycle travels in Mexcio yet, so can't make any recommendations there. However, I have done the PCH a few times and enjoy every mile of it. Love it around Santa Barbara, love the food and restaurants. Perhaps my favorite section for views and scenery is from San Fransisco to Ft Bragg however, it is all good.

If you require any repairs or assistance on you return trip through Revelstoke, just call me. Fully equipped Shop here with tires and parts in stock.

Enjoy and safe travels. Cheers!

Revelstoke, BC.
