Surfing the Pacific coast on a hack
My name is Matt, and i'm currently in Anchorage, AK after having jumped ship from Australia almost a month and a half ago.
I arrived into Seattle to work on my bike after the guys from DMC sidecars had put together a custom hack on my KLR 650. It's a pretty out there rig as it houses a couple of surfboards and wetsuits, plus all my photographic equipment, as well as all the standard camping equipment, tools, clothes etc. She's definitely not fast, but she gets up and cruising after a while and she does steer true down the road.
I don't know a whole lot about motorcycles, but i'm really stoked to be learning. All I know is this is the best surf trip i've done so far and its barely begun...
Travelling on the bike and camping out every night has definitely been a lot more challenging than out of my old campervan - but its a hell of a lot more rewarding. I've already woken up to a black bear ransacking my camp (we were both pretty surprised when I opened the tent door), but have also woken up to perfect waves as I unzip the fly. I've met so many good people, especially other riders quick to offer advice or even a place to crash...
I'm still heading north in Alaska (Denali next) before turning around and shooting for South America. I just wanna get tubed, cruise through an ever changing landscape and meet good people... so pumped.
Anyway, enough talk - here's a couple of photos for those who may be interested.. thanks to friends and family for the support. Love to hear any tips from those in the know. All the best..

Sweet images! I host my pics via Photobucket which is free but I found that while on the road the ads were killing the bandwidth making the process painfully slow. I opted to pay the $9 per year to do away with the ads and increase the speed of uploads. Photobucket allows the copying and pasting a link that you can stack up into a single post.
How are you hosting you images?
BTW when you come down to Southern California look us up here in Ventura County!

The imagine button let you keep adding multiple photos. You do have to use URL from smug mug or photo bucket though.
Look forward to following your adventures.
