Iom tt

Less than 3 weeks to the TT. The Irish Road racing season buildup to the TT is well under way with the usual highs (well done to the Manxman Dan Kneen), and the tragic lows (rip Noel Murphy). The NW200 takes place on 17 May which is the final chance to test bikes before shipping them to "the island".

Anybody want to make any predictions? Dunlop on the BMW, Hutchy back on form, McGuinness adding to his tally.

Anybody going?

If Dunlop clicks with the big Beemer it could be spectacular. I hope he's fully healthy.

Hutchy is so damaged I fear for him every time he's out. Dodging around at the back of the pack in British superbike isn't helping, either.

McGuiness will always be a threat on the big bikes.

I'm still a little leary of Brookes racing on the roads. Being on a Yamaha team could cause him to push too hard to keep up. Especially in the superbike classes.

I'm really hoping Conor Cummins comes back on form. He was quite the threat to McPint, right up until the big smash. I'm not sure him on the Tyco Suzuki's was the best platform for speed last year. But the team would be a good environment. Looks like he'll be on Hondas this year. That could go well.

I am goin'

First trip. Taking my brother and a friend. Brother is from Chicago and friend from here in Connecticut. We land in Edinburgh, rent Suzukis and then ride to the ferry terminal. We meet up with 5 others coming from Germany. A guy on the R90S list had 3 extra spots so we are filling them. Took me about 3 minutes to make up my mind.

We spend 5 nights there and I think our hotel is right in the middle of the action. Interestingly, our hotel burned to the ground about 4 months ago, so we are staying in these "container hotels" that that move from site to site. Built out of 40 ft. shipping containers. My brother says he is changing his name to Jack in the Box. I hope the plumbing is correct. I'll take some pics.

Any hints on what to see and what to avoid? Thanks

To see? Everything really. Have a good long look around the Isle. There's some interesting history there...(did you know it was a prison during ww2?) The little boat trip around the 'Calf o Man' is excellent, leaves from Port Erin. Lots of stuff.
Like unbelievably fast motorcycle riding....
Things to avoid? Speeding in town.(the minimum speeding fine on the Isle of Man is 265 sir...). Riding under the influence of alcohol. Drugs. Pissing in public.

Have fun!

IOM TT has been on my "bucket list" since I was 12 years old (1967!) and too young to NEED a bucket list! Unfortunately it is STILL on the list . Someday.....

What's going in with Guy? Seems to be doing a lot of publicity stints and doesn't seem like he's focused on racing.

I could be wrong. It's just what I see going on on his Facebook page.

It'd be freaking great to finally see him take the podium

Seems pretty focused to me. We'll see how he does at the NW200.

I'm going again, this will be my 14th year.
It''l be my first time TT camping, did a dummy run with the tent and camp bed (to check bed actually fits in the tent and that is it comfy) last weekend.

Spent the night in the garden, it was bloody freezing so hopefully it won't be as cold during TT period or i'll be buying a new sleeping bag...but the bed fitted and was comfy so that was the main objective of the excersize.

I'll be on my FireBlade, with a friend in tow on his new 600 Hornet (MissB is missing it this year).

Can't wait to get back across
18 days to go.

If anyone spots me at the campsite (or anywhere for that matter) please do say hello
Chris
