Panama City Area Riders

Who are we?
A few local riders who do day rides of 200 miles plus or minus. A mom and pop lunch somewhere in the middle with good conversation. We ride about twice a month as a group, notified by email, generally leaving from the Southport Tom Thumb.

We range in age, mostly 40 to 70, but all ages have ridden with us, even the younger guns. A few retired military, active, local business guys, contractors, and just about everything in between.

We ride about everything, just dependent on who shows on that day. Generally, BMW RT, GSA, V-Strom, sport bikes, Harley's, and a few other cruisers.

Our style is mixed, quicker riders up front, waiting on everyone before turning on a route change. We primarily ride county roads (paved), only using US98, 331, 231, and I10 for short periods. A rider skill set is preferred, but will entertain new riders.

We usually do at least two longer trips a year (4-5 days) to the Georgia, North Carolina, Tennessee Mountains (just retuned last Sunday) and every few years out to the Colorado area.

So, if you're interested in riding with a diverse group of riders, PM your email with a name and what you ride. I'll add you to our email distribution list and you'll be notified for our next ride!

Got a few PM's. All email addresses added to our distribution list. We rode 180 miles Wednesday the 7th, lunch, and home. The 92 degrees on 231S was a warning the heat is here!

Well I know one of those trips was a while back because I bought that Super Tenere about 18 months ago.

In the "long ass trip ride world," 18 months is recent!

The S10 is looking good!

Very timely post. Although seasonal now, AKA snowbirds, we are planning a more full time presence in the St joe Beach area. Do you do much riding in the Oct thru May time frame? Would you be interested in seasonal company?

I'm also interested in recommendation for a shop that can put on a set of tires this winter. A place that won't muck up my spokes.

I know there is a dealership in P-cola…. I'd rather develop a relationship with a local shop.

TIA

Anything planned for this upcoming week?

Just got back from 9 days in Arkansas on the DS but I could do some Big Bike riding...

I'm in Tallahassee, but my "free time" becomes more available starting this week. Good for a weekday ride or two.

After Friday, you get about 10 weeks of vacation, eh?

Wifey & kids have the same problem. I only get 5 weeks.

Si!

But, all my weekends are shot for the most part on the travel lacrosse circuit. Planning fun trip to Vermont for late summer.

It's a tough job, but someone has to do it!

Coma,
I had new tires mounted I purchased from Motorcycle Superstore today at Ron's Kawasaki in Panama City. I dropped the bike off at 1:30p and the bike was ready at 3:30p. Ron's is a small shop compared to larger dealerships. Yamaha would't mount the tires unless purchased from them. They're a few private shops in town. Go to Motorcycle Superstore, search "preferred Installers," enter zip code and you'll get two options. I've never used either, wanted to be sure the guy working on my bike and mounting tires had some experience. One of the preferred installers is "The Rocket Shop (owner is Dewey Sturgill, works from shop at home). If he's not busy, or you can leave your bike, a friend of mine had tires mounted on an RT and was happy with his work. Ron's is an authorized Motorcycle Superstore retailer. This was my first time using them and I will use them again.
