rubbing rear fender panel with boots 990 adv

alright so after riding my 990 offroad and etc I have started to notice im really trashing the Baja decals on my rear fender panel and the plastic behind it. I ride using my knees to hold the bike and stand a lot when I ride, it helps a lot in mx but im destroying my plastics on the 990 doing this and I ride very aggressively. on that note has anyone came up with a solution to this? I tried google and all that came up was frame protection. im sure im not the only one this is happened to?

Here is one option, there are many other similar "paint protection" products with varying prices. Google it.

Also, go to any good sign shop and ask for the thick 3M material used as an overlay on ink jet signs. It's really durable and pretty cheap. You also need to make a pattern, and sign shops have tacky backed tracing paper you can usually bum off of them. Maybe some OK ideas for you here: http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=631482

What pants and boots are you wearing? Over the boot pants or in the boot?

im wearing tech 10s and i have been riding pants in boots. usually when its muddy i wear over the boot pants. now that you mention it, it may be a better idea for me to try those pants instead of my motocross pants to stop wear and tear on the tank and fender

Just remove the ugly, way lame, rear Baja decal. It's just one piece of off white sticker that masks the brilliant white under it. All you need is the cool Special Edition Baja sticker up front. You will be way happier. There, I get to show the bike twice. ds

I bought a set of Klim Mojave over the boot pants just before getting my 990 knowing I didn't want my boots damaging the bike's finish. I've ridden in dust and mud and still haven't had any wear show up on the bike from my gear. I admit that I only have 2100 miles so far on the bike though...

Wow, that is a lot of mud

You risk your front fender's integrity though.
Nice drive.
Cheers.
