exactly, yes it sucks. but, there is no fraud and nothing "illegal" going on. there are fixing damaged bikes so they are "doing their part". No, you will not get a new engine. you will get the affected parts (piston/rings/cylinders/heads/valves) replaced at no cost to you. there is no deception, no "crime". KTM does need to step up and take care of things but legal action will go no where based on US law. unless of course you have the same repairs numerous times and can fall under a lemon law.

It happened

With the Ducati expanding tank. Without people doing something nothing will happen. Sit on the side line and do nothing more power to you. All I want to do is ride my bike and enjoy it.

The uni lid gasket is apparently there because the lid screws are self tapping and loosen grip over time. Several of mine are not very tight.

I know the guys over at Rottweiler are working on a new air filter system for the 1190. They have had a 1190 R for a little while and I am sure they will come up with something that will work to keep the dirt out and give a nice little HP gain. hope its soon, as I want to wait on getting an 1190 until they come out with something to sell to public.

Laugh all you want but once you have dust/dirt in the motor it's a big problem.
If this is not addressed by KTM, your bike will be worth dirt. When you go to sell your bike It could be a big problem.
Would you buy a used bike that has known problems with sucking dust and dirt?
We have all suffered a loss due to KTM's inexcusable lack of interest in addressing this problem.
Class Action, sign me up!
And yes, I love the bike, And no I would not have bought this bike If I know the problem was not addressed. It was the first thing I asked about.

good luck with that....

Class Actions are something I am familiar with....There will be no class action here....I love this country, but this sue sue sue attitude is embarrassing

If my motor gets dusted...I am going to mill the deck..up the compression, port the heads and re-tune....175hp....

So parts are on the way to rebuild my engine. Then we find out what KTM will do to extend warranty since technically there will only be about 6 months left on my warranty and now will have a rebuilt engine so that wont work in my world! The uni filter is not something KTM will deal with they now have their own power part around $200 I was told kit that has prefilter, filter, etc but to my knowledge does not address the airbox lid which from what I could tell was the big original issue that caused my engine to suck in all the dirt which put me in this spot. Will see what the next few days bring parts should be in late this week. Pistons, rings, valves, etc

This is a breach of warranty claim if one can prove that the air box was defective and caused the engines to be damaged and KTM does not repair/replace the affected parts of the engine and air box. Seems pretty clear that the air box is defective and any damages caused thereby should be fixed under warranty.
Unbelievable to say the least that one of the largest motorcycle manufacturers in the world is unwilling to address a clear problem with an essential part of the bike while damages to the bikes just accumulate. I would hopefully look for some action in the near term on this from KTM.

I've been following this thread with interest.

Has anyone with a 2014 with more than 500 miles checked their airbox to find it dust free with gleaming stacks?

I'm getting ready to check mine soon (1300 miles on odometer now) and I am looking for some hope here.

(Long time lurker, but I promise to do better. I appreciate all the information here on ADVrider)

Yes, 2000 km, the airbox and intake tubes are spotless and gleaming. Unifilter fitted at 1000 km. Don't put off fitting your Unifilter. When you open your airbox, you'll wish you did it earlier.
