How many miles have you ever put on your rear tire

Just checking, list your bike, and if you remember the brand of tire, throw that in as well.

As for me, 6,500 miles is the best I got on any rear tire, as low as 3,500 on a sport tire.

On the street for a rear tire I've gotten up near 5000 a few times on sport touring rubber and as little as about 2500 (maybe a bit less once or twice) with a sport tire.

There are a metric shyt ton of variables though. I know some folks that get much more on the same brand tires as I've run.

I used to get about 13k on the rear of my SV650 with Avon Azaro STs

my V-strom 1000, I have over 30,000 on a General Altimax Arctic and it still has 50% tread... best I've ever got from a MC tire on the Vee is 7500 but more often only 6000

I think it must have been over 9k miles on the stock tires of the Varadero 125.
On the CBF 600 with maybe BT020 or something like that (mabye older) it was 2 rears per 1 front with 7k front / 3...4k rear if I remember correctly.
On my VFR 1200 the PR4 are very enduring with about 7k miles both.
Shortest were the stock Roadsmart on the VFR with only 3.5k miles front and rear.

With exception of the Varadero all of them down to no tread left.

My dad got 26,000 on his last rear tire. He drives a 1500 Goldwing and that's more than I have ever heard of a person getting - at least its the most of heard of and believed.

The last tire on my 1100 shadow sabre lasted just over 5,000 - though I'll admit I don't do much for gentle acceleration.

The best mileage I ever got came from the worst tire I ever used - an old Cheng Shin "Barracuda" mounted on a '79 CX500. I bought the bike with those terrible tires on it, rode it for 3 years and about 20K miles, and sold it with the tires still on there (and still with plenty of tread depth).

They were awful tires, though. No grip at all on wet pavement or if there was a little sand or gravel on the road. The best "normal" tire life I've gotten was about 11K out of a Metzeler Roadtec Z6 mounted on a '00 ZRX1100. It was a pretty decent tire overall.

I only get about 4K out of the Shinko 244s I run on the back of my DR, though they do usually still have some tread left. They're just cheap enough that it's worth replacing 'em early to get fresh tread.

Over on the Tail of the Dragon thread, someone is swearing that he has 50,000+ on the rear tire of his GW (NOT a car tire)
