What is the measurement between the 3 pointed star flange and the heat sink?

The reason I ask is that not all H4 use the wire retainer but instead use a plastic locking ring.

The /5 headlamp diagram shows a different appearing bulb (not H4 type) and has a different part number (07 11 9 978 396 for $9.47). Thus, it appears that the /5 may not be quite as simple a bulb swap out as for the /6, /7, and later airheads.

The non-halogen bulb (P3???) in the /5 is not directly interchangable with an H4 bulb. The lamp flange and bulb position (focus) are very different.

One solution would be to get an H4 headlamp conversion made for the /5. Plastic lens (nothing wrong with that, they're all plastic for the past few years) with an H4 bulb, it is a bolt-in conversion. Sell the H4 bulb, plug in the LED bulb and you're in business. The LED heatsink protrudes behind the reflector, but I _don't_think_ that will be a problem, though you may want to reroute some of the wiring around the heatsink.

Cost is about $120 from Hucky (Hans Lowe), which is not terribly terrible.

14mm from flange to front of heat sink

37mm from flange to back of heat sink

49mm from flange to back of unit

Has anyone tried fitting the H4 into a KTM SE Headlight bucket?

Lights are in!

Will begin shipping on Monday.

The response to the H4 led headlight at the BMW RA rally has been staggering. Many bikes fitted and there hasn't been a bike that the H4 led did not fit.

Everyone was impressed at the light show last night.

Such a shame, I'd kill for one of these on my BMW X Country (H4) but the way the back of the headlight is moulded it doesn't look like this'll fit. Unless anyone has managed to do it?

Did a halogen vs led comparo on a Vstrom that uses 2 H4. Everyone was shocked at the improvement in output. Owner couldn't get his money out fast enough!
