Day ride to MT Benambra - N/E Victoria

Unfortunately due to a problem with the Tiger last week I never got the opportunity to take the Missus for a ride like she wanted.

But I made up for it today. Sunny Autumn days make for great riding conditions.

Heading up to Tallangatta Valley

If you were on a road bike the road up through Tallangatta Valley would be a dead end but for us the plan was to head up to MT Benambra overlooking Dartmouth dam. The Bitumen runs out at Bucheen Creek which is where we were to turn off and take some gravel roads up to the Mountain. However as it turned out it wasn't quite that simple as the road we were supposed to take turned out to be a dead end.
Being 2up and out for an easy ride I wasn't looking for a challenge, rather some nice easy dirt roads and beautiful scenery. So when we got to this point i was beginning to wonder what was in store for us up ahead.

Not really sure if we were going the right way we pressed on and ended up on the Benambra Spur Track . Fortunately the climb wasn't too steep but it did get very rocky in spots which made it hard going at times.

Eventually we met up with Benambra Rd which i thought would be a bit more major and easier going but not really. That is it straight ahead.

However the Tiger was doing a good job and before too long we made it to the Fire tower lookout on Mt Benambra. Elevation 1480m

Kel doesn't like heights so that is as far as she got.

Dartmouth Dam

Couldn't decide which shot looked better

It's not winter yet but already there is snow about

After that we headed down to Dartmouth Township and back to the Eskdale Pub for lunch.

And fortunately we got back in time to pick the kids up from school.

Thanks
It's a shame I have to go back to work tomorrow. It is perfect weather for riding at the moment.

Gorgeous day for riding!!
Of the two dam shots, I prefer the first - looks more dramatic. Both are still cool though.

Nice Trokel.

The picture you took of the Eskdale pub, I lived in the house you can see across the road for almost 2 years so I knew the area pretty well.

Cheers.
