My son will be competing in the World FITA Archery Championships in August in Zagreb. I am thinking of renting a motorcycle and seeing the country while he is there competing.
Everything I know about Croatia is from history and most of it is bad. Still I love to chase the boy around the world and support his efforts at becoming a world champion.
I have seen a few rental agencies on the web, most are very spendy. Anyone have any thoughts on where to rent a motorcycle, where to stay or what to see?
My boy is the tall one.

I'm sure you'll get more than a few responses but, based on my own rather limited experience (sight-seeing in Zagreb) and riding down the coast road (see my RR in my sig), Croatia is beautiful.
The only place, in the region, that I'd be apprehensive about visiting is Kosovo and you'll be no where near that.
Go, rent a bike, have a blast :)

Congrats to Your son and all the best in competition from myself.
My friend/partner is running Croatia's best motorcycle renthal www.mototrip-tours.com, which runs a fleet of close to ten BMW gs 1200 and 800. He is BMW official partner and certified BMW guide.
For sure we can arrange a good deal for You to rent in August. Usually we pick our guests on the airport, the bike is ready waiting for You in our garage in the center of Zagreb, location is Bosanska 3 street.
Regarding the route, some material to search and think for starters:
- Plitvicka lakes national park
- coastal road from Senj-Karlobag, best seaside twisties in Croatia
- Velebit mountain range
- Zadar ( among the rest a must see are instalations "greeting to the sun" and "sea organs")
- islands of Hvar and Brac
- Peljesac peninsula (home region of famous Plavac mali, wine sort, that is considered to be ancestor to Zinfandel)
must see in BiH close to Croatia:
-mountains if you're into offroad
must see in Monte Negro close to Croatia:
-mausoleum of Njegos
I can put up for you amazing route in the region while sipping the beer on the terrace. Maybe You're into offroad (You're from Idaho ), so we can trace interesting off road routes in the region as well.
Hope to see You in August
