Sardinia Rally Race 2014

Only five days... as usual no entry list so far, but should be quite impressive judging from the latest press release:

Sardegna Rally Race has always been a Rally with “something” more. The only one in Europe worthy of being a Cross-Country Rally World Championship date. The only one solely dedicated to Motorbikes. SRR is the safest because of his intrinsic technical and geographical features. Exclusive specifications combines with other uniquenesses. Sardegna Rally Race has always been the only Rally of the World Championship that is able to gather the Best Aces of the Specialty, the only Rally who called up the myths of the legend: e.g. Stephane Peterhansel, exclusively for two editions of Sardegna Rally Race. Records have to be achieved in order to be defeated, and myths have to be strenghtened.

These are nowadays myths who have responded to the call of the great challenge invented by Antonello Chiara and Gianrenzo Bazzu. Joan Barreda, Paulo Gonçalves, Helder Rodrigues, all toghether with the Honda HRC “army”. Marc Coma, Jordi Viladoms, Ruben Faria, the “officers” of the holder Brand, KTM. And then Gerard Farres for Gas Gas, Olivier Pain and Michael Metge for Yamaha, Joan Pedrero for Sherco. Alessandro Botturi for Husqvarna, Juan Carlos Salvatierra for Speedbrain. Other World Champions. Camelia Liparoti with a Yamaha quad like the one driven by the actual Championship leader Rafal Sonik. More. Graziani against Mancini, Beta, the best Italian riders once again in competition with riders coming from Bolivia, Belgium, Japan, Russia, Qatar, Turkey, Austria, Slovakia and from the Netherlands. Everyone is joining Sardegna Rally Race to compete with major national teams of Italy, France, Portugal and Spain. "Bigs" and Amateurs from all over the World also will meet in Sardegna: a few will compete for the most desired trophy of the World Championship, many will enjoy the opportunity offered by the Sardegna Rally Race.

myself and Phil Gunn(Gunner) are in Alghero for 4 days doing the outriding for WRC-TV until sunday with the car rally, then we are going over to follow the bike rally.
We have Chris Cork's bike & kit in our van which we brought over for him from the UK, as he will be riding in the Rally.
We have recieved our first official rental customer for Dakar 2015 on our new KTM LC4-50 bike, it is Swedish rider Tony Landh, who was riding with us earlier in the year at Tuareg Rally.
So when we get back to the UK we will be sending his LC4-50 over to Sweden for him to test during the summer on some of the swedish forest rallies.
Check out our new website for the LC4=50

Scrutineering

We had technical day today on WRC (car) rally for getting our bikes ready for doing the running around for WRC-TV.
Great parc ferme and scenery in town of Alghero, finish on sunday then off to other side of the island to watch bike rally and support the ADV riders.
Will get some pics up once we arrive

Say Hello to Corky for me John.

Did this Rally last year and loved it. Hopefully do it again next year.

Great news on Tony Landh joining you on the LC4-450 for Dakar.

First day is gone, I'd say no big surprises (Coma 1st, Botturi 2nd and Goncalves 3rd) apart maybe form the little know ARMAND Monleon Hernadez, 4th in front of Farres and all the other big names

I think everyone are running with straight enduro bikes, with just some bigger or supplementary tank, Only fairing showed is Catanese's one
