Even thinking about riding off road is 'verboten' in most of the parts of germany. I stopped my off-road activities with a motorbike when i just barely missed a wire crossing the trail in the forest at neck height. Must have been about 1992 or so... from there on mostly tarmac.
I venture into the woods by mountainbike, seems less risky....i might get a ticket for riding without proper lights on the pedalbike, but the risk of decapitation is substantially lower

And as a general comment: thanks for the friendly welcome, and nice bikes...

Glückauf
Ralf

The top box is 42 litre and made in France by Bottelin Dumoulin. I bought it from MPS in the UK for £60 in 2001. It has never let in water (unlike my partners Givi box which cost double the price). It removes in seconds with 1 key lock. I think the belly pan also came from MPS. I believe MPS merged with M&P & you can see their current catalogue at WWW.mandp.com

Your partner's Givi box probably just needs new sealing gasket installed in the channel where the lid and bottom half of the case meet. They wear out about every 4 years or so.

Its more difficult now in the UK but we can still ride the tracks that in the old days were used by horse & carts, these are known as byeways. Motorcycles are not really welcome in the countryside but people have not resorted to the extreme measures you mention & our police do not put much resource into enforcement.

Welcome to the site

Thanks AJ for the warning

O sh*t I've really blown it
As a way of redeeming myself can I say I've been very very happy with my Givi screen & with regards to the Givi box, its actually Honda badged, and she (Francoise) now denies it ever leaked. *****

No worries, Dicky. My Givi top box leaked 3 times in the 12 years that I've owned it. A new gasket took care of that each time

Givi B36N cases

Alright, took a few quick pics of my new Givi B36N cases with my cellphone camera. These can be used on both Givi's monokey and monolock racks. Capacity is 36 liters apiece. Total width installed is 85cm, just a tiny bit wider than the mirrors, so lane splitting is still easy. They clear my high mount Akrapovics with an inch to spare. They leave plenty of room for the passenger to sit comfortably. Another plus is that they'll fit on any bike with a Givi rack fitted, so I'll also be using them on my F650GS.

Twinrider, the cases match the bike well and look very purposeful. Have you got a big trip planned ?

I'll be doing a lot of camping over the spring, summer and fall. The cases should come in handy on both my bikes. Also good for shopping trips in town
