Huh... my '03 brochure book, which I took a look at this morning, said 20% higher flow rates. "Course, KTM is not known for its accuracy or consistency.

Ignition... yep, the particular Kokusan digital with TPS and the world famous "brown wire" did also appear in 2003. I should know this; I mentioned it in a thread a week ago.

That's what I get for using my memory at 10:30 at night. And now I'm using my memory 25 minutes after I got out of bed... so that may be a bust too.

After reading all the posts to this thread.. I am reconsidering getting this clean low mileage '02 for $5,600. It seems if I wait a little longer I might be able to find an '03 for a similar price... I do though prefer the paint scheme of the '02 though..

Am I correct that all '03s are silver?

Sounds good. I ended up with my '02 when I couldn't find an '01 LC4E anywhere. I've ridden a buddies '03 Adventure and it does seem an itsy teeny weeny bit smoother and the hydro clutch is nice, but other than that, it really wasn't that much different once in the saddle and riding.

So if you can get an '02 at a good price, I'd get it while you can and start enjoying it. Of course, if you can stand to wait (for who knows how long) on an 03+, then go for it.

Yes yes yes... I know. Don't beat me up any more. It was late, I was tired bla bla bla.

I'ts been worse. I used to call Drifty Dagwood... pissed 'em both off, which was the funny part.

I keep hearing the 04 up has 950 forks.... i have an 03 , it has 48wp shocks,,, i think that's the same as the 950,, it reads the same in my parts manuals , i have both. the 03 parts manual says 48mm WP.

my shift lever is foldable, i believe it's stock.

I don't know if the brake pedal is foldable, it is adjustable for length it looks to me.

Couple more things that came to mind:

Whoever asked--> The '03's are where the TPS started.

The '99/'00 bikes were the best (except for that dreadful main shaft bearing), IMO. The fairing/windshield & fork was better.

The '03+ bikes have the updated mainshaft bearing.

The '01/'02 bikes with the smoked silver tank paint were the coolest factory paint ones (once the decals were peeled off). I'm not a big fan of the bluish silver on the '03's. I dig the orange on the '05's and the blue/orange of the < '00 bikes.

There are some plumbing changes on the tank petcocks from '99 to '03. The fuel pump was moved to the area behind the cylinder after '01.

The front brake grew from 300mm to 320mm on the '01, when the really good WP 50mm fork was replaced by the USD WP fork.

Also, the '03+ hydro clutch is integral and different than the Maguara "Jack" hydro clutch that was a fairly common upgrade to many bikes.

The '02+ bikes got the different dash and lost the TT IMO and got (IMHO) a wonkier device. The Wonky device has a fuel light and coolant temp gizmo. I don't much care for it and prefer the older TT IMO thing.

For some mysterious reason, the '03+ bikes with the hiflow [blowjob] head get a goofy ass spark plug.

The frame has a cast lug rather than a flattened tube on the lower right engine cradle to accomodate the easier access to the oil filter the Creep mentioned.

Internal gear ratio (or maybe it was the primary ratio) changed on the '03+ bikes making them taller.

I might think of more, but not now.

05 added an extra oil line feeding the left side of the piston-crank whereas earlier only had the right side oil jet..
