Single track close to Leavenworth

Hey all, I'm looking for trail suggestions close to Leavenworth. I'm getting married just a few minutes outside of town at the end of this month, and I've been given license to ride the day of my wedding - can't let this opportunity slide!! I'll be able to go for only a few hours in the morning (have to be back by 11am latest), so I'd like to stage as close to town as possible. I've done the Dirty Face on my DR650 once some years back, but I don't remember the trail systems, and I haven't ridden much up there otherwise. This time I'll be on a KTM 400 trail bike, so I'd like to hit some nice single track if possible.

What are your recommendations for a nice trail ride that can be accomplished easily and close by?

Look at the map for the WABDR, it runs right through that area. You could go south up old 97 and up into the Camas area or North. If I were you, I would start to plan what to ride on your 1st anniversary!!!

Is the 400 plated now?

If so you can connect to Tronsen Ridge and Red Hill trail by going to 97 via Mountain Home ranch road. Its at the east end of town and shown as "189" on google maps. Travel south on 97 to 5 mile road, there is staging at the end where the trailhead starts if you have no plate.

Congratulations and many happy returns to you both.

Mike,

I'd say the safest bet is the Chiwawa River Trail (1548 on the map below) or Nason Ridge Trail. There's lots of other stuff, but if you have to be back in L'worth by 11, you can dabble on either of those two and make it back pretty easily.

Congratulations and best wishes for your upcoming wedding!

That Chiwawa trail looks ideal, considering it seems like that Nason Ridge run will still be snowed in heavily in late June. The staging area near Deep Creek is about a 20 minute drive from the wedding grounds, which is ideal. Thanks for the suggestions and well wishes, fellows!

Just did the Chiwawa last week.... lots of whoops... yeah, lots but good trail conditions otherwise.
We staged at Deep Creek and the mosquitoes were horrendous!!!
It's the time of year for them to hatch around there and it's right beside a small creek.
Get out of there quick if you unload there

Tommy Creek trail looks interesting, how much elevation gain on that one? :-)

Thanks for the tip, pnwroamer. Is there anything else nearby that isn't as whooped out? A few don't scare me, but it gets a bit monotonous if you spend half your two hours doing only that...Ah, at least I'll be riding a dirtbike on my wedding day!!

From Leavenworth, I'd go down to Cashmere and do a Mission Ridge -> Devils Gulch loop. Either direction is fun.

If I were you, I wouldn't listen to any of these guys if there is a steep penalty for being late!
You said Leavenworth, not Lake Wenatchee, not Cashmere. Both of which take more than 30 minutes driving each way. What time you going to start your ride? Are you fast or slow? Stop a lot? That all matters in these suggestions. There isn't really any official single track close to Leavenworth in time to make the 11 AM start time of a wedding, unless you are going to roll up on your bike, stay in your riding gear, you get the idea.
I would go for a leisurely ride up Mountain Home Road, explore all the side roads, and measure what time I had to be back for your wedding. Plenty of time to ride later, especially if you miss the big moment!

I figure he'll be riding in a rental tux with his phone in the front pocket in case a call to Triple A is necessary.

This was my initial thought...great trails and not whooped or hacked.

BUT...if you need to be back in Leavenworth by 11:00 for your own wedding you'd better be on the trail at the butt crack of dawn and even then you're taking a risk of not making it back in time.

Sheesh, thought I was the only one foolish enough to try something like this. My mistake was doing it the first part of April. Now 20 years later my wife knows I'm busy on our anniversary. Desert 100 has priority

If she says ride on the BIG day... she is a keeper!

Me heading a wedding on my beloved XR circa 2009. No, I shouldn't have ridden the ~7 blocks home....

In all likelihood, I won't be able to get out to ride any serious single track. I'm bringing my DR just in case. But I do plan on getting up at the crack of dawn for this, as I absolutely will not miss such a precedent-setting event.
