Around Cape Town there are plenty nice passes and roads next to the sea. Coming up from KwaZulu-Natal, go through the Golden Gate close to Clarens. If you have time, go towards Sabie, Graskop, Witriver in Mpumalanga.

If you have a dual purpose/adventure bike, there are plenty of good dirt roads to travel upon in South Africa. And along the road you can meet up with some of the peeps from the Forum (e.g. LITO in Cape Town), who can show you around

ahh nice one boys !

thanks loads for the info and kindness.........the reason i decided on SA in the first place was because i`ve met loads of your fellow country peeps here inlondon and made some good friends.........everyone of them is friendly and kind, so i want to be amongst that......im not used to friendlyness in london as we are an impersonal lot really...........

im not meeting up with my mates who are riding with me until a few days before we leave, so we haven`t disscused the route ive roughly planned, but if we are actually going near where you live `ill get on this web site and hopefully arange a meet up, with beers preferably !

superb !

"with beers prefarably" ???? no you dont understand beers are a requisite especially in the hot climes of africa. After a long day in the saddlle drinking in the beauty of Africa there is nothing better than a couple of cold castles.

cheers

SA Trip - KZN contact

Hello, I am your contact in Durban. Just let me know what you ride, how many and what you want to see / where you want to go. We have some great rides of all types here. Oh yes, there are some lekker beerhouses around too, and all the rides go right past them.

Looking forward....

there is 3 of us on the mini adventure, 2 on dr650`S and one klr650, that we have hired from lecap bikes in cape town........what we want from the trip is, beautiful scenery amongst mountains, coast lines, sand dunes, good food, nights out, to meet lots of peeps and wild life experiences......... i`m counting down the days with loads of excitment now ! the autums kicking in here now, dark evenings with lots of rain and fallen slippery leaves, so it will be great to feel summer days again over your place..............thanks again, will be excellent to meet some you ..

simon

P.S. whats the general opinions on shark cage dives with you lot ? i think i would like to go down, but have heard that alot of surfers are unhappy with the idea, due to apparently more attacks on humans since the cages have been going down.... i dont want to do it if this is true..

I,m with you on that one Grue (you forgot to mention its dusty). Please note an excellent pint of the Black stuff is also available, not quite up to Dublins standard, but not their prices either. Plan on paying between about 1 pound a pint for the golden stuff and 1.5 for the black stuff.

Man now i really am jealous ... sceneary you will have loads of that in the Cape area ..you have a choice to either go up the west coast which is less populated an really awesome (did a trip up there this year) or the east coast to knysna an PE ,much more populated but awesomely beautiful , but you guys could prolly do both, go up the east all the way up to Richards Bay then cut up to eastern transvaal (mpumalanga) then down thru johannesburg into the karoo then across to the west coast an down the coast back to Cape town ..that should be about 6 or 7000 km's (ZA is big compared to england very very big)

As for the shark cage thang i cant really comment but i spose it makes logical sense that the more humans come into "contact" with sharks the more problems will be experienced especially as i believe that prior to ppl going down in cages the boat crew throw blood and meet overboard to attract the sharks .. but i aint no marine biologist so take the above with a pinch of salt or mebbe a spade full.

when here , we make a plan ,as Welshman mentioned , beer here is very cheap compared to there. a case of 24 from a bottle store will be no more than 6 pounds or so and then u get a damn fine beer , generally speaking i reckon for the price ZA makes the best beer in the world.

cheers
