a route from Georgia to Uzbekistan by land

Hello all
we are riding two bikes, we plan to ride from Georgia to Uzbekistan by land looping the Caspian sea from north. we will cross from Georgia to Russia on the military road in a few days. our first stop will probably be Vladikavkaz.
looking at the maps it seams that from there we have to take road M29 east to Khazanvurt and head north to Astrakhan and cross to Kazakhstan.
but road M29 passes through Chechnia, anyone knows if its allowed and safe to ride through Chechnia? or can anyone recommend other roads to Astrakhan?
and what is condition of those roads? we don't mind riding more km but on good roads.

Thank you.
