Road conditions into/out of Death Valley mid November

I'm thinking of spending a long weekend in mid-November in Death Valley, coming in from the LA area. I can either ride an F800GS all the way there, or I can put a WRR in my truck and ride when I get there (not enough storage on the WRR to take camping gear w/o truck ). I want to know if I'd be looking at icy/snowy roads on the way into DV to decide what to ride (assuming 14 to 178 to 190). Any issues at the higher elevations with snow/ice that time of year?

From Trona , Hwy 178 has a 3 mile graded gravel section just south of the intersection with Hwy 190. The Wildrose Canyon road is blocked off for transit into the Wildrose campground from Hwy 178. I rode through from Ridgecrest to Beatty last week.

Snow before Thanksgiving is very rare. Just watch the weather but odds are you will be good.

Actually planning to do a pre-run first weekend of November staying in Panamint Springs.

That time of year unless there is a freak storm your fine on either the bike or in the truck. Having the truck is kinda nice cause the ride in is through some pretty boring areas along the 395, and you can bring firewood with you. Which is nice to have that time of year as well.

I was planning the first weekend of Nov too, but then I saw this: http://www.deathvalley49ers.org/encampment. That's why I'm now planning the weekend of the 15th.

I'm sort of leaning truck anyway since I'd prefer the little bike in the remote areas (assuming I get a bigger tank by then). A cooler full of drinks and a pile of firewood would be nice too.

We've gone out there for Thanksgiving for many years. I think just once we hit snow on South Pass, in the shady areas. Not too much though; we made it through easily. Even if there is snow at the higher elevations, there are plenty of places to ride that will be snow free.

They are over at Furnace creek, 50+ miles away.
Come out the first weekend. Having a second truck for the loop makes it more fun.

I will have the firepit and my bitch Luna.

I guess we really outta start a road-conditions thread for 2014-2015 season...

Anyway, there are better road condition reports here, the DV Road Conditions facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/DeathValleyRoadConditions

Very up today and detailed.
BTW, it looks like they still haven't paved Panamint Valley Road, they're listing it as still gravel on the repaired section from the August 2013 storm.

Also says Titus got some damage from this last rain storm, now saying high-clearance 4x4.
