LED tail light bulbs

Can anyone point me in the direction of LED tail and brake light bulbs? It seems I can find every bulb except these weird brake light and running light bulbs. Couldn't ktm just use 1196 like the rest of the automotive industry??

Thanks

Lou

And what bike is that?

Is it a 1190 or 990?
Cheers.

also interested to know what the correct "size" of bulb is - for 990 ADV

I'm about to fit the Voodoo2 fairing to my 990, and at the same time, I'd like to replace all of the remaining bulbs with LED versions

Just a bit of a warning about LED replacement bulbs.
Use the same colour LED as the lens it's behind, white LED's don't put out much red light so if it's behind a red lens then you can end up with a very dim light.

LED tail light bulbs

I sent an email to the LED vender on here, I'll let you know.

Running light is a WR5R and brake is a PR21W, which I understand is also a BA15S, all of which are nearly impossible to find in your local auto parts store, and seem to not exist in LED.

I fitted a set of LED bulbs last year. They were red light. They appeared less bright than the stock bulbs, more directional too. So I sold them on ebay as a kit.

I have bulbs from superbrightleds.com

works well. more importantly, I had a couple defective bulbs (flickering). they sent me new ones after I returned them and they are working fine a couple years later

Those LED festoon bulbs are not the most durable-they are designed typically for an automotive application. If you ride a lot of off road, expect to break them. I had a few LED replacements in various places on the bike and all of them literally have come apart after awhile. But I ride a lot off road, so YMMV.

I've found the LED replacements too directional so you end up with a bright spot where the bulb is and not the big red glow of a normal bulb.
But I was in fog recently with some other riders and the only rear light I could see clearly was an LED rear, this was an OEM LED rear with loads of LED's.

I tried superbright and even sent them an email with no response, but the site does not list either bulb.

The ebay link posted about shows the BA15s as an 1156... 1156 is a common bulb, but no where else does it show them as compatible.

BA15 only refers to the base of the bulb. An 1156 has a BA15 base.
