2into 1

On a 07 990 adv. s, can I put a block off plate on the 3 bolt muffler flange where the silencer goes, thus converting it from a 2 to 2 into a 2 into one, or will I be ridiculed for coming up with this thought.
I would like to save the weight and use that area for a tool tube made out of like 3 or4 inch PVC pipe.
I noticed the crossover tube by the shock, so?
I know it may mess with the tuning, like maybe make it richer, but it's already too lean.

Ridicule

Fine. But they make two into one systems right.
So what if I have the two pipes merged into one there by the balance tube by a tig welder you know a proper mod.
Still ridicule?

Okay enough ridacule. You can have a tig welder make a 2-1 collector out of your stock peice or there is an exchange program by cj designs as mentioned in the other 2-1 thread going right now. That's the one I have on my bike as well as his aluminum liquid holding tank. Hope this helps. If you just blocked off the header it would really affect performance of the engine. If you have some one make one for you make sure they do a nice job of cutting and blending in the header for an unobstructed nice flowing pipe.

The cross over you are referring too would be too restrictive, look at the ones that are built and you will see what I mean.

You would be SERIOUSLY choking back your bike.

You did that yourself. It's perfect. so that one eliminates the right side can and flows out the left, yes? Fine bit of fab there.

Correct..... left side merge. I can't take credit for the welding, only the fitting. I have a guy that does the TIG work that is top notch. He does high end custom cars and every time I bring one of these in for welding asks if I want a job fabbing custom headers. I use a stainless steel 'U" bend for the merge section. Really not that hard,,,, just take your time.

I considered fitting and welding my own, but realized that I would probably just burn holes in the tubing at the same time as I failed to get sufficient penetration. Yup, I have no false confidence in my light gauge welding skills. I should only weld mild steel that is at least 1/4 inch thick. I did once repair a BMW exhaust pipe, and it held for 30K miles or so before I sold the bike, but this modification scope is a whole different order of magnitude to that small repair job.

Knowing that I'd probably ruin my H-pipe, I sent it to CJ for him to get his welding dood to make me a nice 2-1 out of it. He did a excellent job fitting and welding it, and it was back in the mail to me the day after it was delivered to him. That is what I call outstanding customer service. I believe that the price was very reasonable, and am a happy customer.
