Some sad feeling today

Day 17, June 23.

We leave Skagway on the Klondike Highway which is the only way you are going to leave Skagway by road. Up and over the mountain, I think this bridge is cool.

The sad feelings are because this sign means that we are leaving Alaska for the last time on this trip, but we still have a lot to do.

These two guys have been following me for weeks.

I believe this was an old water slide that the miners used to relax after a long day at work.

The road.

Stopped in Carcross for Maxbet to search for brake pads.

Tried this store but no luck.

When, right across the street we saw this wagon and guess what??? The pads on this wagon are the exact same as his Concours!!!

More food

While he was installing rear brake pads, the wagon didn't have front pads. I found some food.

Yummy, egg,bacon,cheese,spinach on sourdough!!

And if you like dessert with your breakfast. That's a fresh out of the oven cinnamon bun with a side cinnamon stick for the road.

Doing some backtracking

We get back on the Alaska Highway headed in the opposite direction we had ridden it on the way north days ago. Which meant we got to ride the steel grate Teslin Bridge two times.

Some more wildlife.

Next we were looking for the turn onto the Cassiar Highway. There it is

I liked this road a lot, narrow, curvy, ups and downs, fun to ride. The down side was there was little space along the road to see wildlife that would be crossing the road.

Obvious fire damage at the northern part of the road.

Another dog.

Ended our day in Dease Lake and there were the three Canadians, we are starting to worry about them

Mediterranean salad.

I don't know exactly what to say about this rig, winch on the front, those tires were mounted on rims for quick flat repairs.

The search for brake pads continues

We saw 8,,, yes 8 of those black dogs on the Cassiar today.

Day 18,, Tuesday June 24th

Today my bike turned over 80,000 miles.

We did see alot of Adventure Bikes headed North today,,, have fun guys you are going to love it.

The road.

Notice down the road, that is what I meant about the foliage being close to the road.

Gas Stop and I think Maxbet left some also.

Who wants to mow their roof??

OOOPPPSS=----Trailer on it's side.

And even though we were going South I wanted a photo at this sign. This intersection meant the end of the Cassiar Highway so we continue on rt. 16

More road.

Maxbet still looking for brake pads.

Ended this day in Burns Lake.

Will he find brake pads today?

Day 19------Wednesday June 25.

We head down the road until such time that the motorcycle dealers would be open and stop so he can call.

"Do you have brake lining for a 2005 Kawasaki Concours?"

"Brake lines for a what?"

"No, brake lining,,,,or brake pads for a Concours?"

"I'll put you on hold while I check"-----click

"I was cut off with the parts department"

" Hold please"

"Parts Dept."

" I was disconnected, I am looking for brake lining for a 2005 Concours"

"We don't have brake lines for a Concours"

"No, brake PADS"

"Let me check, I'll put you on hold"

"No, we don't have them"

He finally located some rear pads, really I'm serious this time. In Prince George.

Apparently you have to go to a boat dealer to find parts for a Concours.

Greg was giving moral support

All done.

So, now he can stop the back of his bike but not the front.

He did call a Honda dealer in Kelowna, BC and they told him they would order pads and have them the next day. So, Kelowna here we come.

South on rt. 97. As the day went on we noticed the scenery change. It's getting browner.

Ended the day in Cache Creek.

Maxbet found someone to talk to.

Will they have the brake pads?

More of this for our morning ride.

Headed for Klewona, wondering all along if the dealer can really gets parts overnight.

We are going to find out.

They had them-----

I looked around while he made his repairs, I'm no help with that.
Everyone here was super friendly and very helpful, even the owner came out and ask about our trip. He told us to go upstairs and use the employee lounge.

I didn't know Honda made snowmobliles.

Pit stop complete and away we go.

Another milestone on the trip

We are headed South and will soon cross back into the lower 48, kind of sad to know we are done in Canada.

We use the Border Crossing north of Danville, Washington. This was the first guard to make us open all of our bags, unstrap everything and open every bag. He was very nice, asked where we had been and wanted to talk about our trip, ask if we knew about the actor from Star Wars that had ridden around the world.

After the Border Crossing we headed south on rt 21 and then rt 20. I like both of them, especially going over Sherman Pass. We got to Kettle Falls and stopped for gas.

Maxbet made another friend. "What bikes are they?" " What is the seat height?" "Where you guys going?" "I have a Harley Low Rider" "You guys been to Sturgis?"

Stopped for the day in Colville, WA

Excellent RR!!!

First, congrats on a great adventure so far. I'm sorry to be chiming in so late in the game.

You fellas caught two good days on the Dalton. Thats a feat unto itself!

My hats off to the guy on the Concourse. I had a tough enough time in the rain on my KLR a few years back.

Happy Travels guys!
