Looking to come over for a 5 - 7 day ride in Late Jan / Feb 2015, will need a rental bike

I'm not sure we actually have any over here. The Brittons do organised adv rides & I do believe there is a place in queenstown that rents trail bikes but apart from that I'm not aware of any one else.

Our riding here isn't as remote as what you have in Aussie, ie never more than a hundred kms away from civilisation.
You could time it to coincide with the Dusty Butt which is a 2 day 1000K ride.

I believe Robbie has pulled the pin on the bike tours. Still doing 4wd tours. A met of mine was on his last one earlier this year and he said after it that it was his last. 2 of his hire bikes broke and he reckoned sit wasn't worth it financially.

If you can find some bikes to use it's not hard to plan yourself out a good ride. Lots of cool public access stuff in the SI & a lot of private land where you just have to ask & maybe pay a small fee.

Cheers
Clint

Hi, if you are still interested in a South Island multiday ride then you might be interested in this one on the West Coast of the SI. http://www.adventurerides.co.nz/West...20Brochure.pdf run by Mike Britton. As mentioned before the only other adventure ride operator has pulled the pin on any more rides.
There is a possibility of a 5 day Central Otago ride being run in late March 2015.
Mike doesnt have hire bikes but he sometimes can arrange private hire.
As to whether the ride/organization is any good?....well that particular ride l havent done but l`ve done every other ride that he runs through out NZ and they are all top notch. Now l have to qualify that endorsement by saying that l am his lead rider for the Northern Exposure ride, but for the others l am just another paying customer.

Give me a few years Gary - it's on my retirement plan. Be established in the top of the South Island for tours everywhere.
