Pretty good move, eh?
How many other guys can make that claim?

"There is a fifth dimension, beyond that which is known to man. It is a dimension as vast as space and as timeless as infinity. It is the middle ground between light and shadow, between science and superstition, and it lies between the pit of man's fears and the summit of his knowledge. This is the dimension of imagination. It is an area which we call the 2006 MotoGP season."

Does anybody recall that Nicky and Pedro were teammates in 2006? Equal machinery, who took the crown that year?

I'd bet any rider on the grid would prefer a MotoGP World Championship instead of 'leading' some back pages stat sheet like race wins, laps led, poles won, passes made, number of tires used, sets of leathers worn, number of gloves thrown into the crowd, etc.

Ah yes, trips down memory lane to '06. Gotta love it. Anyway now that the factory seats are settled, I hope that Bradl can retain his seat at LCR. Surely I would think Tito will be making the step up into GP, anyone else rumored to be? And my obligatory prediction

Do you recall that Pedrosa beat Hayden in his very first motogp race on that same bike? Or that Pedrosa also won two races that year? I'm a huge Hayden fan but the only reason he won that championship is the same reason Pedrosa has never won one, because of an injury. That's part of racing but there is no question who the more talented rider is.

Dani has won more Gp world championships than Nicky.

Could be said every year.

Point moot.

Good point. Those were world championships too (125 and 250), right? Nicky won a AMA championship on, by far, the best bike in superbike racing that year. Edwards won the WSBK (as it was known then) and to me, is the better rider.

If you think that at any point in 2006 Hayden and Pedrosa were on the same bike, you are very naive.

Sure. But it is not obvious that next year's Duc will ride like this one.

In fact, the whole point of the redesign is that it doesn't.

And the year after, it will be on Michelins.

Anyway, I prob should hav put this in the full-season thread.

It will be very interesting to see how Lorenzo goes this weekend. I am pretty sure he's been quick here in the past, even if not a winner. (Can't clear my head of puns about him bouncing back. ) I would love to see him up at the pointy end, and rubber side down all the way.

All true, for the most part. The point of the redesign is to make sure the Duc does not ride the same. I just don't see it happening.

Uhhh, how many years to get this right?

It has been the same story every year after ca.2008: NEXT YEAR, we will have a FULLY NEW bike. Believe it only when I see it! They just lost the plot gradually after Stoners championship winning year, while at the same time Honda and Yamaha solved the problems they had at the beginning of the 800 era. Lorenzo may not have too many good choices outside Yamaha, but he΄ll be crazy, if he does not take Crutchlow΄s downward spiral as a very serious warning.
