MasterMarine, you always make Nevada look so good!

I was looking for this one and I'm late for the party anyway.

Did you stay at the Barn in Jarbidge? I thought it was a fun place to stay.

OK on with the ride - - - Honey Badger really does care.

We saw badgers also, in the middle of the black rock area. Ours ran like hell though.
One ran and one tried to eat my motorcycle and me too. It did not care! I thought I was going to have teeth marks on my boot and blood on the inside of my rear fender from roosting its head. It kind of scared me a bit.

Wachs, Oregonlmd, nvklr, effensteve, tundradirtbiker, bluestar, Ladybug,

Its coming. See below. There will be many flowers. And rocks.

I hope you enjoy the ride.

Wow. You had me laughing when I saw that. I never expected the badger / Darth Vader tie in. I did not take any pics of Darth Vader but I know someone else did. Maybe he will post them up. If not, you will have to visit glorious Jackpot.

I am waiting for the other 5 riders to chime in on the first day. Sorry for the pause. It takes a little time to get everyone in line!

In the meantime, here is the first video that Scott made up from our trip. It will give you a bit of an idea how rough and steep that initial climb out of Jarbidge is. Enjoy Scott's comments!

That last video did not get us too far. Only down to Jarbidge in the van and then about 40 minutes up the trail. Here is another to keep things moving (and the hordes entertained). As always, Scott's commentary keeps it interesting! To be honest, I normally don't watch videos anymore in ride reports (other than LittleWan's) but Scott's are worth watching.

fwiw, kellys bike was a new leftover 09 ktm400, not a 300. It was well ridden and worked flawless on this trip, kind of a drz that's 30 lbs lighter. The river crossing was one we'd normally ride, but it was bottomed with suitcase size slime rocks and swift side current (why the diagonal x ing) so we played it safe, also being the 1st day didn't want to soak our gear or drown a bike.

The 1st thing we hit right out of the rip 1stday was a steep loose up hill we weren't warmed up for. Too much air in the tires and 1st minutes of fully geared riding big bikes coming off our normal weekly small bike trail rides. Over dressed we all over heated quickly and tore gear off at top of the hill.

The 1st days ride was a great sampling of terrain and scenery. Dr Dan has been the designated "place to camp" finder in rides past, and he did again this 1st night.
